To be perfectly honestly, I'd be inclined to say Greatsword of Artorias. The TRUE one. If you have the stats to wield it, it does a scale damage off of everything (Str, Dex, Faith, and Int). Plus, it's Divine so it knocks the Skeletons in the Catacombs always. Uses Demon Titanite to improve, though...

I don't think anyone still thinks the Drake Sword is the best weapon

Have you gotten into PVP? Its the only thing that's kept me playing the game for so long.

Only newbies it seems

I do PvP once in a while, but I enjoy the game for the story and experience than the competitive part
of course it's always nice to invade or help out someone after playing for long

I still do playthroughs every now and then, but for the most part, PvP never really gets old. I was also surprised to invade several new players yesterday. I'm thinking Dark Souls 2 is drawing some attention to the game.

Definitely, of course the number of players should steadily decrease once DaS II is out, but Bamco is treating it like an AAA game so the attention it gets might actually draw more people to play the first DaS

Well after the big fuss about "accessibility" and from the game-play that's out there now, I don't think its going to be your typical AAA game designed for casual players.Β

A bit of an insignificant point, but I've never seen anyone abbreviate it "DaS". Most people in the community (including myself) abbreviate it DkS. Not that it bothers me, but its just something you might not be aware of

I wouldn't really mind an easy mode though, I mean like difficulty option in the main menu, but it would create anger amongst the most rabid fans

In the imageboard I usually post about the Souls series we always call them DeS and DaS

jordanhitman In reply to MentalCrash [2013-10-16 09:57:28 +0000 UTC]

The only real issue with a difficulty option would be the online play. Not only would it be difficult to integrate, but it would also require a drastic change in the game to keep things fair, otherwise one could pick the easiest difficulty, and it would be much easier to go through the game at a low level and invade other players with overpowered gear(relative to level). I guess what I'm saying is, I think it would be more trouble than what its worth.

MentalCrash In reply to jordanhitman [2013-10-16 10:01:56 +0000 UTC]

Well, you have to consider the fact that people already do that, but they would indeed increase with a difficulty switch, I guess a solution could be having easy or difficult sellection redirect you to different servers

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

jordanhitman In reply to MentalCrash [2013-10-16 23:05:36 +0000 UTC]

Well yeah, they do. But it would definitely increase the number of twinks running around with the DkS 2 equivalent of a chaos rapier. I suppose different servers for each difficulty would solve that issue as well.

If you have access to the kilm of the first flame or whatever last area is the dark knights that carry a sword not (greatsword) always drop one and they respawn.

Yeah, but that's the very end of the game

The dark wraiths in new londo also drop them and have a higher drop rate than the royal knights do.

Just two more? I can get maxed out in like a few hours. Them Slabs are the Β things that are hard to get!Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

MentalCrash In reply to Dustomega [2013-10-14 02:10:09 +0000 UTC]

Darkwraiths drop Slabs and most of the stuff can only be upgrade with Twinkling titanite, I often find myself needing Chunks more than Slabs since you only get to use one Slab per piece but you need several chunks

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dustomega In reply to MentalCrash [2013-10-14 02:34:17 +0000 UTC]

In the game you cna get one Slab really easy, and the other two require a bit more work. If you ever plan on having a fully upgreaded normal set of armor, it is a real pain o get more slabs. Β Just trying to get one, will have you ending up with Β way more chunks then you will ever need.Β

Just get ten humanity and the gold covetous serpent ring and start slaughtering darkwraiths. They drop those things so easily it's hilariously easy. I've been doing runs from the bonfire in between the Valley of the Drakes and Darkroot Basin, and I am set with 50+ chunks. If that's too far in the game, you can just go there early and kill ingward for the key to open the seal and lower the water. Royal Sentinels are by far the least rewarding for titanite chunks I have farmed yet.

I know that, I usually go to the Darkwraiths later though, since they drop slabs
