Description
Snow and Frost - 11x17 watercolor painting
I'm so happy this is finished! It took a long time (2 months) and I don't usually paint this large. There's a lot of tiny details, like painting all those snowflake patterns on clothing dress individually. I was afraid it would never be done!

It looks like something you can see in a cathedral almost stain-glass window style
Amazing!

How do you scan your art into digital format. I have do watercolor but I find most scanners don't like to pick up the paint that well. Any tricks? (PS it's really really pretty. Well done)

I had to scan this in 3 pieces because of the size. I have an Epson V300.
- Have your art completely flat, no wrinkles. You can do this by painting on stretched paper or blocks. If it's still wrinkled I put it on the scanner and then pile a lot of heavy books on top. Sometimes if it's really wrinkled I would wet the back lightly and pile books on top for a day until it dries.

I'm looking at the settings on the Epson scanners. It has better resolution and panton match that my current Cannon one. That's probably the trick to that. I always loose my yellows and light greens into the background. I'll look into a better scanner. Thanks for the advice.

I would say it picks up all the light colors (much more than I would prefer actually because I don't like the paper texture when I want a white background). Usually I have problems picking up differences between blues and purples. Somehow this painting didn't need any color correction

Yes, but I usually make mistakes earlier like when inking the drawing. So I start over or just scan the drawing, fix it and print it out on something I can paint on.
