These two are not on a perfect plane together but close enough, the snowy being a tiny bit further from the lens of my camera than this mallard female (who looks like life has been very, very good too.) Snowys are small, light in body weight and have a delicate energy about them. In this photo, the mallard make the egret look particularly small I think. Anyway, it should give someone a sense of size. Great Egrets greatly "dwarf" the snowys. A great in this photo too would have made an even better comparison. Then of course ... most people don't really give a flying rat's ass about this subject matter. It gives me an excuse to share it. Sssshhhhh .... but really, isn't that mallard just the plumpest? Imagine a pilgrim's eyes spotting this mallard as his entire Thanksgiving meal.
