bankai/vizard Gin from 's Bleach fanfics, based on Rukia's description of him in Fearless : "He cut a dramatic figure, more Hollow than Shinigami, fur-ruffed and fox-masked like a demon of old, holding a gleaming silver spear that must be Shinsou’s Bankai form."

i would've loved to scan him, but he's just too big, so this is a digital photo of him, instead. even with pretty good lighting, i feel like the photo doesn't really give a good idea of what the piece looks like in person.

in the real sketch, the conte detailing in the fur and hair stand out so beautifully... *sigh*

anyhoo! the story behind the sketch: i was suffering from a nasty migraine that was part of a cluster. it was bad enough that i dug out the last few oxycodone left over from having my molars pulled. when the oxy kicked in and the hideous pain was replaced with floatiness, i thought to myself, "i just took a narcotic pain killer. it would be a total waste not to sketch right now." XD so i whipped out my drawing board, turned on some tunes, and started doodling. when my doodle page was done, i started sketching. from there, he took shape pretty quickly, and it became a matter of carefully picking out his lights and darks (and deciding what i wanted his mask to look like). i also wondered for a while about what to do with his hair before i said to myself, "y'know, other characters get long hair when they go hollow or bankai...*shrug*" and gave him a ponytail.

creepy thing about this? the glint of his eyes was done in yellow pastel, and his eyes follow you around the room. o_o no lie; you can wander alllll over, and when you glance back at the sketch, he's lookin' right at you.
