The title has about all of the story I can really explain at the moment-- but, I've been proud of this piece for a while, so it was high time I finally posted it.I've never been super confident in any of my "painting" styles outside of my usual cell shading, but this and the most recent Flowers for a ManticoreΒ wereΒ the first results in quite a few years that I've been proud of. I feel good enough replicating it, and hopefully I can get some more paintings out soon in the same style. Two is a pretty good start.

Aaah, the water effects are GORGEOUS, Meri!! And the brushstrokes are so lifelike! These two are a DANG good start. I can't wait to see more!

I love the way the hair is still visible through the water, but colored by the dark.

Her hair actually has a soft gradient too- it's the same color as her shoulders from about halfway down
