Description Hope you like.

Oil on canvas 28” x 22” (or 71cm x 56cm);

Photo reference the excellent stock image from Beckystock.

Tried a lot of experimental techniques in this painting and they seem to come out alright. I originally planned to have the main figure being flanked by two dolphins but in the end they would have covered too much of the background. Besides painting the fish brought back pleasant memories of the tropical fish I had when I was a child.

Not the best photograph, must buy a new camera or get access to a good scanner.

Very interesting in the effect and colours, the fish almost resemble leaves as if she were flying.

Well done

Sorry I would like to help but I can’t really offer any advice at all, I am entirely self-taught. Last time I was taught art was in the 3rd form. Good luck with whatever you end up doing, I am interested to hear how it turns out, if I ever get time to study art I will. But it’s so hard to find the time.

for sure, thank you.
After some research I unfourtionatley have to admit that the learning to use digital art forums is inevitable.
must master the computer graphics first... so far, I can use paint lol.

Still keen to catchup sometime for a coffee or chat if you have a studio.

awesome piece. I think one of the most impressive things about it is the size you worked on, and still getting all of the amazing details in. loves it.

also horrified at how long this must've taken you.

Thank you.
I seem to be a detail orientated artist so I guess a degree of patience must come with that.
And thanks for the

...amazing work,my friend! To paint so many details in a quite small size,is really not easy.It needs a lot of patience.the details are so well done.I like also the touch of "mythology"here, and your way to put your personal story about the fishes..Wonderful harmony of colours. The swimming beauty-Superb!The only thing,I 'm missing,is some kind of "tiny waterbubbles" around her,or "moving"in the water,I don't know,I think I would have done so,but, maybe I am wrong...(lol)Bravo!!!

Merlin111 In reply to floriaiglenoir [2008-05-12 08:18:56 +0000 UTC]

I think you are probably right. Early on I thought of bubbles and planned to put them in but I simply forgot in my enthusiasm to complete the work. I am thinking of adding them after all.
Thanks so much for your feedback, your comments always welcome.
