Description
Itkovian and the Grey Swords thank you for 10k hitsFor those who are unfamilliar with S.Erikson's novels, Itkovian (dude on the horse) is a Shield Anvil of the mercenary group called Grey Swords. (the dudes with shields to the left). Here they defend a part of a city called Capustan against the Tenescowri (which is an army of starving cannibal peasants
edit: I've done some changes. I think I'll make this one bigger and get into detailing and refining it. I have some nice ideas for it I think.

This might be my favorite fanart. EVER. Fantastic job. This is the perfect blend of grisly detail and emotional projection. I can really feel Itkovian's resignation, the hunger of the Tenescowri, the desperation and determination of the Grey Swords... and even as I type I am inspired to reach out toward my bookshelf and live it again... SPECTACULAR WORK

I realy enjoy looking at your gallery.
Lots of my interests are here. LotR, Fantasy, Historical, Lovecraft, etc. awesome
I know its a bit picky but I noticed how the man's amputated arm is clipped by the horses snout/mouth. Makes it look like the horse just bit into his arm.
Maybe, I'm just unfamiliar with the fantasy realm present, is it Itkovian cutting the mans arm and its being cut off by the head or does his horse have a thing for human(if its human) flesh?

It's a warhorse with a really bad temper. So, yes. It bit the arm off.

I've just finished reading Memories of Ice and was looking for some fanarts, and who would have thought that I'd find my favourite character from the book. Itkovian, such a shame... Anyway, I love your rendition.

I just read this part of the book series. I thought he was a goner but no way. He really is atough bastard.
You've captured the mood of the scene very well, with all the mass and massacre of the Tenescowri. I like how you toned down the other colors apart from the bloodred.

I really don't see the need, but alas it's the artists curse to never be satisfied with ones own works.

How wierd, I was just looking at my collection of Erikson's books while the PC was booting up and thinking I'd have to get the rest of the series before they changed the format. A minute later and I'm loving your painting after spotting it on someone elses Fave's list!
