It's a sort of reality show. It's mainly comprised of an obstacle course with varying obstacles in every season. 100 competitors take part in it every year. There are four stages, and usually ninety-five percent of the competitors fail in the first stage, which, like the second and final stages are timed. The third stage isn't timed because it's modelled to tax your arm strength. The motive is to reach the top of Mount. Midoriyama, which called kanzenseiha.

Which is why I suggest you watch it, if even only one tournament -- I recommend the 17th. The time outs are not as hilariously enticing, but seeing rookies dunk into the waters are the best part.

I researched it for a bit. Apparently it should roughly translate to 'small summer' judging by the kanji. There's a word that's very similar to it, Komatsu, meaning 'small pine tree'. Also, Konatsu is a girl's name.
