Yay! Finally made a step by step, hope it helps!1) Sketch - I prefer to sketch with a gray background, it helps me focus more also is less painful for my eyes
2) Lineart or just a cleaner sketch! control+ z intensifies
3) Base colors - Use a lot of layers (e.g. the hair has one layer, the skin another one...)
4) Start shading - Create layers with the option "clipping group" over the layers where you put the base color
5) More shading
6) Add contrast - After I finished adding the shades, I've merged all the layers and used multiply, color dodge, overlay layers to create more contrast since the colors were pretty bland
7) Cleaning
8) Add lights with color dodge and vivid light
Program used: Paint tool sai, Paint tool sai 2, Photoshop (just used that flower brush)

Is the slightly blurred look achieved through brush blending or is that an effect added afterwards? Sorry, I'm not so familiar with Sai :'D

Question time tho: at point 6, after you merged all the layers, the "multiply, color dodge, overlay" layers are copies of the new "merge of all" layer or are they layers you painted in?
I always enjoy knowing other artists' modus operandi

They are not copies of the merged layer! I created a new layer over that one with "clipping group"
