it's been like what, a year or so since i last drew sonic fan art? gah, who cares; look how cute he is! X3fun fact: tails is one of my most favorite video game characters ever
he's just so adorable ^3^ and i actually like his voice XP and i needed to draw something for the furry drawing marathon , so i thought "i must draw tails as a cyberpunk!" my only regret is drawing his glove on the one hand >.< it would of looked better without it, but i was having trouble drawing the mechanical hand at that angle, so i cheated and just slapped a glove on

Fantastic work.
I just formulated a potential storyline in my head that stemmed off of the Mini-Series comics that had Tails as the main character. Those stemmed from the mini-comics in issues #28 and #29. Primarily I'm referencing the cliffhanger on issue #28 where Tails was seduced by Fiona who was built by Robotnik for the purpose of capturing tails, and the cliffhanger was where Tails was about to be roboticized. Incidentally in #29 the machine became "clogged", backfired, and exploded.... but what if it didn't?
When Sir Charles "Chuck" was roboticized he was able to be "brought back" from that and later reverted, though for much of the comic series he was still a robot (this also held true in the Sonic AM animation series, I believe), and ironically this was induced by Robotnik himself during a test for Transdimensional travel (sometime in the comic 30's).
Since those roboticized can obviously have their own mind and free will restored without actually being reverted to normal form, you can devise a story based on the possibility of a de-roboticizer device partially failing (Issue #34 hinted at attempts to build one but "never succeeded").
If Tails HAD been roboticized at the end of issue #28, perhaps a story could develop similar to that of Chuck's, only this time, since Tails is such a devoted and loyal friend of Sonic's, he was willing to allow himself to be tested with Rotor's de-roboticizer rather than risking Chuck. The attempt partially failed, however, only reverting half of tails to normal form, leaving the other half as a robot. Being unsure of what the device would do on normal flesh, further tests were canceled and the device was deemed unsuccessful and they did not want to induce Chuck to the same fate.
Should be something worth thinking over.
I was a pretty devout fan of the comic series until the early 100's, in which I started losing interest because of new writers and artists brought to the comics, and later getting a huge negative vibe from the fandom that surfaced on the 'net. I might get back into reading the comics again (I still have all my old copies and all of them in digital form as well) because after writing this and remembering the story, I remembered that the storyline was extremely well written.

After writing all that, I remembered the artist's names that I loved who did the comics: Dave Manak, Art Mahinney, Patrick "Spaz" Spaziante, Nelson Ortega, and Harvy Mercadoocasio (Yeah, had to Google that name... lol).

and funny you mentioned that: often, different cyberpunk stories will detail something like that. such as augmentation addiction and neuropozine dependency (a medicine that counteracts the rejection of cybernetic augmentations in the body, which some people get) in Deus Ex, or psychotic breakdowns and insanity due to over-augmentation in Cyebrpunk 2077, and even memory addiction (yes, that is a thing) in Remember Me.

My Jewish hedgehog scientist-mechanic character Einspine is a 21st Century steampunk (preferring "kosher" fuel-sources), but I suspect the most augmentation he'd go for in future old age is a pacemaker...
On the other hand, he has mechanical aid in the form of huge cranes and machine-building power-tools... all running on steam pumps and hydro-power!
