Description
As I descended into the cavern it grew dark. It was the deepest dark of the deepest place I had ever been. I squeezed through tight areas and the clostrophobia that I never knew I had began to take over. Eventually tightness gave way to immense expanse and after a little way down I was standing in cool, clear water. I walked through the water and turned around a corner to see an even bigger expanse. It was so wide my torch could not find a wall but I no longer needed it because sitting there was a vast structure of origins that had to be unearthly. What built it I do not know, but I know the sounds their voices make. Rasping, like two plates vibrating against each other. Eventually, I heard, "You have found us and that makes you brave and resourceful. If you come any closer to us, you will live, but you will forever stay."

I did not like the sound for forever staying, especially after catching a glimpse of one of those things. It had a crustacean like body, and a convoluted ellipsoid shape comprised of pyramided rings with fungi-like antennae where a head should be. It skittered around flapping it's bat-like wings which didn't seem to work. The sickening thud of it's appendages as it moved about the outside the structure suggested that it might be soft-ish, like a fungus too.

"If you leave and come back, your body will sustain our home along with the others. You have been given notice."

I don't know why it knows English, or why it and its ilk are here. I only know that I would rather live out my days forgetting I ever saw these things. Who knows what the things that lurk beneath The Earth want or what they do? I do not; I will never know and I wish I didn't care.
