Description
Much like last year's Peatrice , I liked Groose almost instantly. He's such an over-the-top, douchey bully, everything about him is just cranked up to 11. You just love to hate the guy, and the parallels that a lot of people drew with Gaston are definitely not off-base.But again, like Peatrice, I only grew to appreciate him more and more as the game went on. You start to see that he genuinely cares for Zelda beneath his macho facade, and after he lands on the surface in one of the funniest scenes in video games, we get to see him grow up a little. He becomes an important ally and a friend, and a hero in his own way. That's where Groose and Gaston diverge, and whether or not he's actually based on Gaston, I love that sort of character study; seeing two characters who started from the same place go down different paths in life and turn out vastly different people for it. For finding his own path and not being content to stay in Link's shadow, Groose quickly became one of my favorites.
And the fact that this entire critical darling of a series almost took place in Grooseland instead of Hyrule definitely had something to do with it.

Awesome job man!
I didn't like Groose at first, but his growth through the game ended up being one of my favorite things about it =]

A personal headcanon of mine is that Groose or his descendants would eventually become the first Gerudos, thus indicating that he'd be a direct ancestor of Ganondorf. I mean, I think he at least looked a BIT like a Gerudo when I first saw him...

Plus, it'd be pretty ironic to have Link befriend Groose's bloodline at first, and then be sworn enemies with it in another life.

Groose is DEFINITELY one of my favorite characters from Legend of Zelda now. He NEEDS to have descendents like Link and Zelda!
