Description
Part of the same assignment was to make a piece in monochrome - how could I resist showing some love to the Game Boy?You young'ns will never understand what PokΓ©mon was like. Racing your best friend to Lt. Surge, making trades under the monkey bars at recess, finally catching that damn Tauros only to find out Dennis beat you to it.
Those were simpler times.

Oh man! I remember being in daycare and me and my best friend traded from her Blue to my Red so that we could both have all the starters, then we had a race to see who could raise them the fastest to battle the next day xP
Or the glitching Mew and deciding what stone to buy for the Eevee
Oh dang. . . I feel so old. . . xD
I love your picture, probably brought back the best memories ever (that and I freakin' love Gary's face)

i love love love this piece. you really captured the gameboy essence well.
i think my favorite touches are Ho-oh, the bug catcher of Veridian Forest, and Dark Cave.
Red was my second favorite game next to Silver. granted, silver was my first Pokemon game ever, and i knew all about the first gen, so it was AWESOME to have the new excitement of the new pokemon while you still get to tour Kanto.
I have to admit the 3rd and 4th generations are cool and exciting as well, but it will never get better than the Jhoto for me.
and i agree with Kung-fu-Merlin. wallpaper size desired!

I miss the good ol days too before the game turned into a science project just so you can play multi-player.

Nice, further proof your work is strongest when in color. Killer concept here.

Ah, the good 'ol days of Pokemon; back when there were only 150 of them....
I never was able to catch 'em all, though...

Back in the days of Red & Blue, it was a damn MISSION to catch all 150.
A few of us made 151 thanks to a friend who had Mew and the Clone Pokemon trick. >: D
I'll never forget the old 'find Mew at a truck hidden off screen near the St. Anne (S.S. Anne? Was it even Anne?)' hoax. Or battling my cousin with Lv.100 Mewtwos each with a healing power, the victor being the first one to flinch. Or Hitmonlee being my last Pokemon. Or...OR...
GODDAMN, those were the days.
What? ART PIECE. Yeah, this is sweet, too. To be honest, I'm loving the ol' sickly green Game Boy screen type color here. Adds to the nostalgia.

S.S. Anne, yeah.
And yeah, one of about a million and a half rumors about Mew. When I was playin' it as a kid, we all knew about Mew, of course, but there were also rumors floating around the playground that there was a secret way to catch YOSHI. XD

Dude, I remember that! XD And why not? Yoshi may as well BE a Pokemon! He already communicates by use of his name.
Among various other grunts and screams, BUT! 'EY XD

I remember those days. I traded my Venusaur for a MissingNO, and it screwed my game. :<

Gaah! You're making me feel old. DX Anyway I know what your talking about. It was pretty fun back then with the game boy. Of coarse the new games are fun too, but there will always be that fascination with games that one has when they are a child. Wonderful piece by the way, you did a great job on it.
