Yeah... You have a BIG ASS TARGET painted on your head. You're a CIVILIAN, and also a PACIFIST.
1) Ponies in general don't do war on the same scale as humans.
2) Twilight is not a trained soldier. She can only handle that much pressure.
3) Twilight is a CIVILIAN, thrust into a warzone like environment. Worse, she has an assasin going after her.

4) She knows where the part of an artifact bad guys are after is located.
After all that. After she bleeds, fights and suffers, while trying to increase her odds of success(she CAN'T fail, or Equestria is gone) by playing dead, and minimising the bad guys search for her. After all that people blame Twilight. I come back, and see NOONE take side of Twilight. I'm beyond pissed.
Professional soldiers have PTSD. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. SOLDIERS sometimes just BREAK after war. The single fact that Twilight still can PLAN, and EXECUTE those things reliably, after surviving attempts on her life, SEVERAL TIMES. SHE WAS ALMOST KILLED SEVERAL TIMES, CARL!!! All the people only thing how she touched feelings of her friends and family. And just IGNORE the sheer amount of work she does, while laying low...

You would too, whether you like it or not. right now you would be angry which is totally justified but then you would just want to be with your friend now that your wish (to have her back) was fulfilled.

But I would never ever trust her again, because she put me through what is easily the worse trauma any-one could. Even if it was 'To keep me safe' I would rather be put in physical danger than get shattered emotionally. She would know this as a friend. But she chose to put a friend through that, regardless of what it would do to them emotionally. Even if I forgive her for this vicious act of betrayal, I would never be able to trust her ever again, because she's proven once already that my emotions and love for her don't matter as much as they should, and she is willing to hurt them and abuse that love for her.

You treat her as well-adjusted but she is very logical and so she sometimes overlooks or overthinks things that may be obvious to the rest of us.
As for "She would know this as a friend" you forget what she is in ponyville for, she is still learning about friendship, and under what circumstance could she relate "faking a death to keep your friends from dying themselves" compared to anything she has already learned in ponyville.
And for trust it seems far more 'logical' to keep your friends from bodily harm then to worry about their emotions, even with something as drastic as your own demise. What is really better you and your friends all dying together or giving them the chance to live even just a little longer?

I never thought about it like that, but you make a very good point. *nods* Unfortunately inlater pages it's revealed the only reason she left was because she ran away (or that's what she says). Strangely, I find that more accepting than if she felt she was doing something noble. I can understand being scared, even if that somehow makes what she did worse you know?

In Twi's defence though, I'm pretty sure that while she didn't ask her friends TO help, she also didn't tell them ... I say if you get hurt doing something of your own free will, it's your own fault, no matter the circumstances leading up to it... >.>
