Basically - though the truth is they'd be burned away by their own magic, and the range of the spell likely only effects those within a certain range (basically, most of Equestria). The idea is that since most of that magic would be possessed by a certain entity, the collateral damage would be minimal. >3

This spell makes a lot sense since only Celestia, Luna, Starswirl, and Tirek, assuming he's absorbed the magic from every other pony in Equestria, would be affected by this spell.

is the caster immune? cause in order to sustain the spell they have to be casting magic i would imagine.
kinda like how it is tying in tirek in this whole thing and this spell pretty much seems made for his demise. he would have far too much power to contorl if it was all made unstable at that point. though i am now curious to if scorpan plays a part. obviously this spell was unneeded and i would presume because of scorpan's help.
