I think it would look more subtle if you inverted the colours back... so most of the guy is hidden, but the shadow allows some light to see a part of his face, and arm....

if you wanted the striking look then him at the VERY side is a bit too hidden... because for my monitor it was off the screen.... so before I scrolled over, it gave me the feeling of dead calm and silence....
