I'm on a roll, folks. Totally not stalling on English homework hahahahah wth are you talking aboutAt work I've been having to help out in the baby rooms again (a welcome reprieve from the hellions in my classroom) so that may be where all this is coming from. Daddy Roy here is about ready to find out just like my new coworker that you NEVER pause when changing a little boy. NEVER. Mwahaha.

Have you ever thought about what Roy's reaction would be to changing diapers for the first time? Or helping Riza through labor? Cuz I imagine he would lose his cool in both situations.

Hmm..well as far as labor goes...I think being the scientific mind he is, Roy would have researched and educated himself as much as possible to prepare (kinda like he did with Havoc). But then once Riza is actually giving birth I think he would completely flip out anyway because suddenly it's his wife having his baby 
(Or.. would he bottle it up and keep calm because that's what Riza would need?)
Then to make up for it, he'd be all gung-ho to help out and change all the diapers...and he'd realize he had no idea what he was doing. I think he'd learn pretty quick though haha
I gotta say one of the things I love most about their relationship is how they truly treat each others as equals. So I feel like Roy would leap at the chance to help in any way and wouldn't find doing the dirty work demeaning or anything.

Right. He would educate himself, maybe using the medical textbooks that Winry used to read as a child. (Now there's a fanfic -- Roy begrudgingly asking Ed for permission to borrow his wife's textbooks cuz he has no idea what birth entails, and Ed teasing him about his lack of knowledge/nervousness: "You're the Fuhrer of Amestris and you don't know how babies are born?" "I know how babies are born, idiot; I'm just preparing myself for what's to come." "Oh. So, are you nervous? There's gonna be a lot of blood -- are you gonna pass out? You better be careful; she'll squeeze your hand so hard you'll need an automail replacement for it.")
And Riza would catch him reading that stuff and say, "Just so you know, when my water breaks, I want you to stay as far away as possible. I don't need you being useless at a time like that."
For any given OTP, I love picturing the new dads helping out in the early stages while the moms recover from giving birth, like preparing bottles and changing diapers and comforting the little ones when they fuss. For Roy specifically, I am head over heels for the idea of him hearing their son cry in the middle of the night and going to comfort him -- and then Riza catching him speaking sweetly/babbling to the little guy to get him to fall back asleep.

And YES I'm the same way especially when it comes to Roy and I don't know why. What is it about daddies loving on their babies that's asdfghjkl adorable? (actually I have a theory about that but it's kinda off topic) And holy crap I was actually thinking about how I would draw out a scene almost exactly like you described right there. UGGGHH WHY CAN'T SCHOOL BE OUT YET

I'm a preschool teacher... with three and four year olds. Most of the kiddos in my class still have regular accidents and my room isn't legally licensed to deal with that so I can't even help them So yeahhh I sometimes find myself longing for the Hawkeye method
