Description
This is day 31 of "a drawing a day", day 3 of "scenes with dresses" week where I depict Tiandriel in historical feminine fashion (as opposed to her usual masculine) in a scene with a background, for fun and practice. This piece places her in the streets of Bianjing (present-day Keifeng) during its heyday as capital of Song dynasty China and the centre of the canal network. She is wearing my take on the Song era Ruqun and Beizi, based on period artwork but also taking cues from modern interpretations of Beizi. Primary reference for the background was the Qingming Shanghe Tu, a Song-era art-scroll depicting life in Bianjing currently being kept at the Imperial Palace Museum in Beijing.
