Description
This is Day 20, drawing 2 of "a drawing (or two) a day", sixth day of "my favourite games" (that I played recently) week, depicting Tiandriel fighting a scyther in Rimworld. This is my first drawing of a mechanoid (that isn't a quick sketch or study), and it was a fun but laborious challenge to interpret the scyther. In the end I decided that staying mostly faithful to the in-game depiction (both in sprite and in text) was more important than designing a terrifying opponent - and besides, the scyther's true strength lies in being numerous and quick, not necessarily in being very strong. That said, some alternative forms have also been considered, and I aim to use those forms for more "advanced" versions of the scyther that I might use for later parts of my comic series. Speaking of the comic series, I should really begin publishing some works for the series. It's been almost a year since I last put out anything relating to Yuri of House Dracondar.This represents a return to an old composition that I tried multiple times and failed some time ago, that of Tiandriel lunging with her sword. After a few days of trying, I eventually settled on depicting a completed lunge in a static, flat manner and then stuck to depicting Tia holding a guard position in later drawings of Tiandriel with her sword. This time thankfully I had the help and advice of master Desdinova , a fellow artist active in r/RimWorld, and achieved what I believe is an important first step in my eventual conquest of the lunge form.
