The early bird gets the worm. The early photographer gets the shot. I'm a bit unhappy with the shots that I took on this particular trip, but I am also learning the limitations of the kit lens and what it can and cannot do. A new lens is being researched and this one will be sold as soon as it's replaced.2 stop soft GND
Polarizer
Corrected slanted horizon and cloned the empty parts to fill the image without losing resolution on 11/14/08. It was really bothering me. Edit on 2/5/09, uploaded a larger image to offer as a print. Prints also available directly through me with tons of options and guaranteed to be profiled for color through my preferred lab for the best possible look.

It's always a good feeling to know I can create that kind of reaction. I have been working hard to create an image that just brings emotion and almost makes you feel like you could be standing there with me while I am taking the photo. Still a long ways to go in certain aspects, but I'm definitely getting there. This spring/summer should be a wonderful time for me to really deliver a lot of stuff I've been wanting to do and visualizing for a while.

One question: You said you wern't entirly happy with this pic - What the hell is wrong with it? It's absaloutly beautiful! I just love it! Especially the reflection!

I am definitely my own worst critic and set my expectations very high. Especially when I see a lot of the work that some of the other photographers local to me are producing. I need to quit comparing my work alongside of the work of Marc Adamus or I am never going to be happy, lol. He's just too damn amazing for me to hang with right now, or maybe ever lol.
I could write a novel about my thoughts and feelings about it, but looking back this was the first time I had ever used a graduated neutral density filter and I am still learning how to make the most of them. I'm too hard on myself but I strive for excellence in what I do and am quick to downplay my work if I think I could have done better, which is about 75% of the time haha.

No, this Mountain is far from being in Africa. It appears to be (from all land marks I can recognize) Mount Hood in northern Oregon.

Do it! Move to the area! One of the awesome things is that no matter what, we always have opportunities and can always make the most out of them if we try. I am going to start working hard on my goal of traveling to many different places and just exploring all that this planet has to offer. It will take time, but it's definitely attainable.
