Another picture with adopted OCs. I'm so sorry they're gems again but I have been developing a bit of a story with theRainbowOverlord . Her Black Diamond will be affiliated with my Diamond seen above. I'm hoping to tie them together a bit more and have Black Diamond be why Eureka Diamond gets away from Homeworld. Both defect after PD's shattering but for different reasons, but ED here would need some help getting away even if she makes an attempt to leave.

In my AU, I guess, there are many Diamonds, though they are scarcer than other gems because they take a LOT of resources to make. Diamonds are a ruling class among gems and pledge their loyalty to the Diamond Authority. The latter are the only Diamonds that have the right to govern and lead the gem race as a whole. In this AU Diamonds outside of the authority don't get planets and colonies. That is reserved for the Diamond Authority. They may be assigned to a planet/colony and oversee it while reporting back to the owning Diamond about its status. Normal Diamonds are allowed to have their own followings as well.

Eureka Diamond is a rare Diamond that took monumental amounts of resources to create. Unfortunately she ended up emerging defective and that was held against her for the longest time. Because she took so much to make she was able to avoid shattering. Though because of her defective nature, the Diamond Authority didn't want Eureka to be seen, so they couldn't give her much of a use. After all, what would it look like to other, lesser gems if they were to see a defective diamond? It'd send a bad message that diamonds can be flawed when they should be perfect.

Eureka was kept around but restricted. She couldn't interact with lesser gems, she wasn't allowed to have a pearl or following of her own, she couldn't be stationed on any colony, etc. Eureka Diamond fought the Diamond Authority about her existence pretty much the entire time she was around. She was increasingly bitter about how she was denied so much simply because she was defective. Eureka was just as capable as any other as far as she was concerned. Being defective wasn't her choice, and she always felt that it was unfair that she be punished for not being "perfect" like other Diamonds. This is why, sometime after PD's shattering, that Eureka Diamond finally made a break for it. She used the whole Rebellion as a cover to get away knowing that the Diamond Authority was too occupied with that to notice her. Long story short is that they did notice and didn't appreciate her defection, thus they agreed to shatter her. Eureka survived that and ran off with the split color defective Aquamarine she found in the process of her defection.

Eureka Diamond is sensitive about the topic of off colors and defects. The idea that they be shattered simply for not turning out perfectly by Homeworld's standards always pissed her off. It wasn't like they could control being the way they were, like they CHOSE to not exist by Homeworld's standards. As a result Eureka Diamond set out to gain what she was denied - a following. She and Aquamarine have been looking for gems to join said following. While Eureka will take in any kind of gem, regardless of color and origin, she has a soft spot for defects and off colors. She offers them protection and care where others won't. In fact, she takes in defects/off colors easier than other gems. Eureka wants to prove that other gems like her can still be useful and function well enough to survive (so to speak). Right now her following is small but Black Diamond is helping her expand it. Aquamarine refers to Eureka Diamond as the, "Off Color Queen".
