Description EDIT: Redid her profile so she's more up to date and so it includes Blue Goldstone. /EDIT

Ametrine's reference. I finally got her how I want her in terms of looks.

I was so close to trashing Ametrine as a character because I grew very discontent with her. Design wise something was always missing and I felt like I was unable to finish. Then I noticed a ton more fangems using ametrine as a gem and I suddenly felt like I was robbed of my hard work. I had done a lot of looking around before I chose my OC's gemstone, and at the time ametrine was rarely used. I'd seen it for like two fusions but not a base gem. I grew discouraged further by my art block and kind of stored things for a while. When I came back to her, I'd accepted that Ame wouldn't necessarily be unique in terms of stone. It would instead be in terms of appearance.

As for her history, not enough has been revealed about the gems for me to accurately place her without canon conflict. I loved Amethyst's story in the show and how she was the result of something so dark yet she was quite the opposite. The look of the Kindergarten suggests thousands of gems were made on Earth (and presumably added to the gem homeworld's army). I want to say that not all of those were met with success and many had failed. It's heavily implied that it's possible there were failures. I say that based on Jasper calling Amethyst an "overcooked runt". Although I can't be sure Jasper really knows anything solid about Amethyst either. But every success has its failures, right? So taking from that I decided that Ame was discarded because she was deemed what she really isn't -- a failed gem.

With Ametrine though I tried to make her a bit different in terms of appearance. Peridot inspired the idea of "disconnected body parts" for Ametrine, though I went a step further with it than the show does with Peridot. I kind of took the idea from NiGHTS at first (I started with only entirely free-floating hands). But as she became electric based in my mind, I thought of a magnet type effect with her. That spurred me to break her arms up and do what I have with her ponytail. I'd always kind of wanted her to be sci-fi like in terms of design, so when the referencing came into play, I took from applicable games and shows. I admit I stuffed a lot of things I liked into her design and character wise, but she's not a gemsona by any means. Ame's just a plain old OC with similar likes.

Her skates are shown here:

I do hope we learn more about the kindergartens but I think it's good reasoning for why she was left behind. Thinking abou tit, perhaps the two colors also made them think she was defective too. Good thing she didn't get sad by it but instead was all "gotta go look around". I can just see her zooming into an arcade somewhere and being all "Play ya!" with someone too XD Just being the trouble maker by mistake by being great at it because lbh, she has had a lot more practice than others at games I'm guessing XD

Hopefully she can make friends. Even if they're tiny ones XD And by that I mean fusion gem. Also makes me want to finally finish tearing Alden's version out and making a bio XD

Hope she's not too dramatic with those glasses though XD Otherwise I worry the lens flare...
