Another piece of artwork of my MLP OC 'Alex Cosmos'
Depressing, I know.
BUT, this art serves purpose.
Lately, I have noticed that among the fandom,
many "fanatics" despise Alicorn OC's for any given reason
(heck, Twilight Sparkle's even been "attacked" for becoming an Alicorn)
While no one has given such criticism towards my OC..I've had the foresight to anticipate such an attack,
SO, before you angry fanatics start something,
Lemme explain some things regarding Alex Cosmos "status"
While most artwork of him has portrayed the stallion as an Alicorn,
he was originally born an Earth Pony to parents who were a Unicorn and Pegasus.
this oddity made him recieve quite of abuse from his father,
and, his lacking of a "cutie mark" (or, "coolie mark" as I refer it for male ponies) only made things WORSE.
while he was loved by Twilight Sparkle..
he recieved an terminal illness, and died while the Mane Six were all present.
he then became a Ghost, and underwent training to harness his new abilities.
when Hostile Spirits began invading Equestria,
Alex immediatly returned to defend those he loved.
As a ghost, he not only became an Alicorn..but, recieved his mark (the "A" symbol)
Alex doesn't really understand why he's an Alicorn (such things usually have a "deep" meaning)
and, doesn't believe he is worthy of the royal status that comes with it, either.
while everypony else see him as "Prince Cosmos, the Phantom Alicorn"
Alex STILL views himself as "Alex Cosmos, the Blank Flanked Earth Pony".
Twilight and Celestia say otherwise.
So, go ahead..mock him, ridicule him.
you'll only make yourselves look like JERKS if you do.
I chose "Reflection" from Mulan as the featured song,
as it seemed like the right thing to do (and, was my inital inspiration)

So Alex is an Alicorn(which makes him a prince like you said) and the superhero of Equestria, but still wants everypony to treat him the way they did when he was a blank flank earth pony? That pony has my respect!

More likely that explains how Twilight feels with her status.
with Alex, he has doubt that he SHOULD be an Alicorn to begin with.
but, Celestia assures him that these things happen for a reason,
and, just because he doesn't understand it..it doesn't mean it was a Mistake, or Accident.
In short, Alex is an Alicorn Prince..but, still looks at himself as a Common Earth Pony.
so, he looks at his self image differently than everypony else.

That's good, you know this also reminded me of one of my favorite lines from Captain America: The First Avenger, if a villain asked Alex what made him so special I could see him respond with.
"Nothing....I'm just a colt from Ponyville"

personally Alicorn OCs, that are made with a purpose, are fine. I just dislike the ones made just because they are better than others and they have no faults. Alex is a great character because he sees that the outside changes but the inside is what matters.

Good to hear you are sensible.
But, there are Fanatics (not fans) out there who may automatically criticize Alex,
for simply BEING an Alicorn, regardless of his backstory.
Apparently, they think the only Alicorns that should exists is Celestia and Luna
(Yes, I have seen some bitter remarks towards Cadance, stating she should be a Unicorn)
This was made Proactively.
my way of defending my character, BEFORE he is eventually attacked.
and, believe me..if Twilight and Cadance can be victims of harsh criticism,
then, make no mistake: Alex Cosmos WILL be made a target sooner or later (most OC's are fair game for "them")

ya it is a bit crazy to hate on alicorns since Cadance was fine as the role and Twilight earned it from years of study and hard work. Most OC alicorns I can agree with them on the fact some of them are just poorly thought out, others like you have made them very well.

is "I'm Still Here" from the 'Treasure Planet' film.

"A picture is worth a-thousand words", they say..
With my artwork,
I wanted to illustrate who my OC is, and his issue, without having to say much.
the idea being that he's an Alicorn, but WAS a common pony,
and, doesn't really see him as a "God-like Prince", like Princess Celestia is viewed as.
It almost parallels another Hasbro Franchise: Transformers.
where the great hero Optimus Prime, was apparently once a "librarian" called Orion Pax.
When bestowed the Matrix (and, thus leadership)
Optimus doubts he is "worthy" of his title, and feels anyone else could do a better job.
That's the same case with my OC, Alex (or, even Twilight herself)

I didn't want to completely copy the lyrics from the song/film,
so I altered them a bit to seamlessly integrate into the MLP universe, and the character involved.
That's something I like to call "Creative License"

Considering I had to draw a character, and his mirror image, and make it look convincing.

I understand, it's really not easy trying to repeat the same drawing and artists who pull it off well really deserve respect. You did it really well.

Yes, well..the whole concept of 'Alex Cosmos' is a Danny Phantom-like character.
It's the main reason why his mark is a stylized "A" symbol,
meant to mimic the famed "D" symbol that Danny wears.
The symbol was taken from this chart I made: fav.me/d6km53r
It is also why I went with the Cancer-like death for Alex.
as a means to make him a Phantom, without any complications.
instead of a Ghost Portal Accident..he just simply DIED, and became a ghost upon death.
Plus, using Ghosts as a theme allowed me the freedom to bring back King Sombra,
who the series producer have confirmed is "Dead" in their canon
and, being dead makes it easy for me to used as a Ghostly Villain for "Alex Phantom" to deal with.

You would be surprised how "cold" some people can be..
Some don't care one bit of someone's feelings, or personal tragedies,
and, will mock and ridicule them simply because they get some sick, twisted joy out of their pain (believe me, I would know)
But, as i already said: You would have to be a JERK to mock someone like Alex Cosmos.

You would be surprised are vicious some critics can be.
but, I have learned to accept that everyone has differing opinions..not all are right, though.
I tend to call the so-called fans of a given series, who HATE something about "Fanatics"
which is not the same as being a "Fan" in my viewpoint.
Fans love a fandom no matter what.
Fanatics go to extremes, and start "fandom wars" because of SOMETHING new that they don't like
(ex: Fanatics of the 1984 Transformers who HATE the new shows, and the live action films)
So, BEWARE of the Fanatics, and their extremism.
