was the main character of the entire comic series, instead of Sonic himself.

Well that's 'cause Penders is an idiot. Though to be fair, it's not like Sonic is this really interesting character that can carry a story by himself. He can't.

of course he can't. no matter how great a single character is,
that can get boring fast without a variety of character to play off from.

Batman is only interesting because of all the color villains he conflicts with.
and, Bugs Bunny is only funny if he is matching wits with Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd.

people may criticize Sonic's supporting cast.
but, after Sonic the Hedgehog 4, it is clear that he needs them to thrive.

My point exactly. Sonic's various companions and compadres should be seen as a lot more than "Sonic's Worthless Friends". They shouldn't be "Worthless" at all. But alas the combination of awful writing and SEGA'S borderline-draconian creative mandates strangle them at the best of times.

That is a trend is seemingly EVERY form of animation (not just Sonic)

I am sure you must know of the criticisms against Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network (and, I guess Disney.)
well, they too have made similar mistakes that Sega and company have with Sonic.

having poorly written stories, approving the first random idea that comes their way,
sacrificing variety for overusing the same concept repetitively, and just not being intelligent in the least.


See, this is why so many people people keep saying: "Things were BETTER in the 90s and/or 80s"
because, in certain unique cases..that is VERY true.

Kids shows were. Well, at least they stayed more consistent. Nowadays it's a mixed bag of the best of the best and the absolute worst. Though I would disagree with those who say EVERYTHING was better a few decades ago. A few things, yes, but not everything.

I did say "in certain unique cases."

Like, I am not gonna go hating on Michael Bay's Transformers films
like most angry fans who are "G1 Purists"

(I do appreciate the films for what they are,
  and, I DON'T expect what was done in 1984 to still work today.)

but, I can't deny that lately, I haven't had a reason to watch current television
and spend most of my cartoon watching time on YouTube, or KissCartoon.


I think the phrase: "Quality over Quantity" sums things up best.

That's about right. I mean the original Transformers sold you toys by the bucketload, but at least it tried to write a suitably badass story around that. You can't exactly "sell out" in an MB film when you started as 30-minute adverts. It was at least more subtle and more professional than the abomination that is Sonic Boom, which has done nothing but quote memes and hawk merchandise like nothing else. And it somehow got a second season!

I think that point of Bay's films was portrayal he Transformers more realistically.
showing how people in the REAL world would really react to giant,
alien robots that can seamlessly transform into earth vehicles.

people gripe over the constant explosions on the films.
but, see..Transformers is about GIANT. FREAKING. ROBOTS.

of COURSE there is going to be massive collateral damage,
and explosive destruction in the wake of their battles!

that is REALISM. which is the whole point of the "Bayformers" series.


But, back to Sonic.

This has always been just my personal opinion,
but I felt that Sonic might do better if they took a closer look at his character, and abilities.

Sonic is a Hedgehog with Super Speed, right?
well, after watching CW's The Flash, I felt Sonic would do better
if Sega treated him more like DC does with their Flash character.

expand his speed beyond just 'running fast'
and, give him a more variety of speed based abilities.

like charged electricity as a weapon,
phasing through solid matter, and yes, even time jumping.


Sonic also needs better villains to challenge his speed.
like, how Captain Cold can slow down Flash, because extreme cold reduced speed.

(so, what Sega SHOULD do, is create a character that is the polar opposite of Blaze the Cat.
  a villain or rival with ice powers, who can literally slow down Sonic.)

classic gamers already knows Sonic can be slowed.
do I have to bring up all those "Underwater" Levels?, they were annoying as heck.

simply because Sonic moves slower.


Sonic these days..he wins too much.
that is one reason he is so uninteresting.

Sonic has the same problem as Superman.
if he keeps winning, people stop caring about him, because he is too boring.

Batman is more popular than Superman
simply because he is Human, and has weaknesses that we are aware of.

at this point, AMY ROSE is the most interesting Sonic character.
due to her having no special powers, and only having a mallet as a weapon.

I agree, they should do something like that. But they'll always go down the path of least financial resistance. Hence no personality, no real villains, and memes, merchandise and God-Mode Sue Sonic up the jacksie.
