Description
My first motivational of the yet-to-be released Sonic Cartoon 'Sonic Boom'
Todays subject is 'Sticks the Badger', the newest addition to the Sonic Universe.
As the series, AND it's videogames, hasn't been released yet.
It may be premature to start judging this new character right now..
..BUT, I have seen and heard enough to get started anyway.
First off..her name is "Sticks" Yeah..STICKS!
I am sure she will be a great character..but, her name sounds like it was taken
out of the "Ugly Baby Names" Almanac (right up there with "Kneecaps", Knuckles baby brother from the Archie Comics)
The name is so simple, THIS was the best joke that I could come up with (and, it's a lame one at that.)
As for those curious of her personality..
Well..she appears to be a touch on the crazy side
(she yelled at her own shadow to "stop following her", if she was any Nuttier, she'd be a Squirrel.)
and, she's voiced by Nika Futterman (Best known for being 'Asajj Ventress' from Star Wars: The Clone Wars)
so, for me..that's a PLUS.
Let's wait, and see how Sticks (hee-heh..STICKS!) does on the show when it premiers.

Not long ago, I wrote a story that helped sculpt a back-story for Sticks, since we haven't really been given one in canon. In that story, she picked the name because Sonic was asking her for it, and she picked the first item she saw (because she couldn't remember her actual name).

Is there anything she ISN'T paranoid about?
If it ever snows on their island, I bet Sticks thinks "snow" is "tiny white aliens" invading.
and, don't even get me started on Christmas.
you can just imagine how she'll react to the fact that Santa Claus: "Sees you when your sleeping, and KNOWS when you're awake."
she'll be setting traps for Jolly ol' St. Nick, I guarantee.

I always though "Branches" made a better 63 version of Sticks (somehow, it's manlier than "Sticks")

I think Sticks is just a personal nick-name.....to cover her real name *A name she hates* (Sorta like with Tails only Sticks gave her own nick-name)

To give Sticks credit, at least her name reflects her personality and lifestyle.
Wish I could say the same for characters like Silver. (Seriously, what does "silver" have anything to do with timetravel or having telekinesis?)

He does have levitating powers, which some magnets levitate, therefore the name Silver.

More likely it has something to do with his white fur color (That, and the powers that be couldn't think of a name that implies his powers.)
Then again..I am unsure that any of these names are their TRUE names In-Universe.
Even "Sonic" isn't Sonic's real name (his actual name is "Olgilvie Maurice Hedgehog" YEESH!, no wonder he changed it to SONIC.)
so, the jury is out on whether or not "Silver" or 'Sticks" are their real names, or just alias that they thought up.

That's true. Whereas other characters got very simplistic names (Amy Rose, Sally Acorn, Miles Prowler, Porker Lewis, ect.), Sonic has probably one of the weirdest-sounding names in history. A title like that sounds more foreign than Antoine's own accent.

My initial oppinion on the upcoming Sonic Boom, if any care to listen: I like the character designs, knuckles excluded, and the voice acting sounds pretty good from what I've seen so far. Sticks does seem like she'll be a good character, and I think it will be a balanced show of action and humor, whereas I thought the latter would be the premise.

Admit it, Thrash's body type nearly matchs Sonic Boom Knuckles exactly
(and, all things considered. I bet the Archie Knuckles wishes he WAS as tall, and buff as his counterpart.)
I may be wrong..but, the designers may have been reading the Archie Comics during pre-production of Sonic Boom.
Or, maybe they just REALLY wanted Knuckles to "look" strong, and his resemblance to teh Tasmanian Devil really is just coincidense.

Maybe. I admit he looks tougher. But the thing I've always felt about knuckles is the that the fact that he possesses little bulk but is super strong that makes him special. I do like how they've done Amy. I liked her original self, but this particular incarnation looks a little more mature. Tails and Sonic are about the same.
