Description
My entry for the entitled "Moving Moments". Yes, before anyone asks, I have joined the darkside, and I am now an official trooper in the club! When I was looking at the other entries for the competition, I realized that all the other entries seem to have done really sad moments in the FMA series. At an attempt to do something a little bit more hopeful but still bittersweet at the same time I decided to go with the moment Ed gets Al from the Gate, but in the process, loses his alchemy as a result. This might seem quite strange but the reasons why are as follows:-
-When Ed gives away his alchemy, he loses in a sense, a part of his being, that identity as the Fullmetal Alchemist, the Hero of the People. Since he is the titular character, and in the story, has commanded a lot of respect for being a protegee in alchemy, and despite that, he is willing to throw it all away for the sake of his brother.
-We know that Ed is the Fullmetal Alchemist, and if he loses his alchemy, then it was coming to the end of the series, giving this a very poignant and bittersweet moment.
-When you stripped away everything, the basic plot of the series was Ed trying to find a way to get Alphonse's body back. Despite the search, the answer has always been right in front of him the whole time which kind of gives it a slightly strange feeling of something like dramatic irony and you can't help but think what would have happened if Ed thought of that in the first place... you also can't help but feel glad that Al gets his body back because Edward finally completes what he set out to do.
-Ed's Alchemy (as hinted by him) represents his pride and youth. When he first began alchemy, he thought that the world was a door and alchemy was the key, not really understanding anything, and is in a child's naivety. Once he opened the door and looked to see what was inside, it was his journey to becoming a man, with Ed becoming a strong-minded man that triumphed over his struggles. This ended when he realized alchemy isn't everything and closed the Gate...
And somehow, I managed to write some degree of a dissertation on this. I haven't even included everything and look how long it turned out to be!
When I was colouring this, I realized one thing: Ed has no right hand!

Thank you very much for the lovely compliment. I didn't win, though (but I'm okay with it).

Thank you so much for the lovely comment. I really adore this moment as well. Did you listen closely to the dubbed version of this because I think vic speaks through Truth, along with Luci. It's kind of like Vic saying goodbye to Edward as well! BTW, as I said on your page, thank you very much on the fave for this piece! :3

And yeah, I think I heard that...but truthfully, I thought I was hearing things or it was a dubbing error! XP Cool that it wasn't! Love that! ^U^
