Description Gah, Firefox randomly closed on me so I have to re-type my big long description.

Well, I started this AGES AGO, actually. For those who have seen this already on Myspace, then here's your lucky day. You get to see the original after years and years (well, weeks) of trying to get it done, mainly the background. After school today I went and bought a nice new set of dry pastels especially for the BG, plus I needed to get a new one anyways. The BG took forever (so many layers) and I'm still not that pleased with the outcome, but then again I'm the only one who has seen the finished product anyways, so I might need some opinions.

Also. You totally saw this coming. If you didn't already notice, this is HEAVILY inspired by Amy Brown, the best fantasy artist/watercolorist that evar lived. If you have no clue who Amy Brown is, then here's her website: [link] She's another one of my inspirations. She can do so much more than faeries also. D: *envyenvyenvy* The stone idea was referenced by 2 paintings of hers, and I had to teach myself how to draw stones then. Also, I... I... I DREW TREES. I ACTUALLY DREW TREES. FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1ST OR 2ND GRADE. I AVOIDED THEM SINCE THEN AND THE OUTCOME IS DECENT CONSIDERING. Ah drew sum treeeez! Mah lawrd. Also, the cloth thinger was inspired by Brown's garments, and the figure was meant to be partially naked, so don't go "ew I see bewbies" or you'll get forked. Also, I forgot to pen in my signature in the original so I had to draw it in on PSP X. I apologize for it looking different on the print and this version. I ish stupid sometimes.

This is one piece where I actually put as much time/effort/detail into just about every part of it as I could, which is rare for me and it's something I have to do more often because I feel as if I don't concentrate enough on my artwork and that's why my more recent works have been steadily declining in quality. But still. The most complicated parts were the trees and the stones, but, by far, the figure was the most confusing next to the trees. I wanted to make it more realistic and less generic (trying to part from the norm just a bit) so I had to concentrate a bit on the pose/anatomy. Only severe problem I see is her left foot. It looks backwards because I got carried away with the position and ended up screwing it up. I feel like bricking myself for that one, so don't re-remind me about it. D: Also she looks a bit stiff. Ugh. Ah, well. I don't really do drawings like this. actually, I never do. This is an example of how I'm trying to slowly branch out by trying new things, just like my last artwork (not the photo). Shyeah.

Well, enjoy! (or at least try to! I worked pretty hard on this!)

MATERIALS USED: Copic Multiliner 0.05 (black), Copic sketch markers, Prismacolor white charcoal pencil, Faber Castell dry pastels, all on bristol board. Border, signature and touch-ups done on PSP X.

Beautiful as ever mwe sumomo!
though the only thing that throws me off are the rocks (?) she's sitting on...
they just seem a little flat to me...

Thanks! Yeah, I did the rocks flat on purpose. Like metamorphosed shale or something.

i think the position is quite good.. what really strikes out to me odd is the clothe.. i think its too stiff and has too many uniform folds to look realistic.. o.o intresting bg.. are dry pastels like.. oil pastels? ahha the trees look odd too.. but then again trees are surprisingly hard to do!! i never did a decent tree b4.. ahhaXD this is a good tree.. o.o although loosing some leaves there ahahXD

I love everything in this picture, and it looks so cool because it's kind of realistic but not. (if that makes any sense).

Oh, about how awesome Amy Brown is, have you heard about all the controversy about her work?

People are saying that she copies other lesser know artists. I've seen a few articles online about it. Let me see if I can find them...

But wow...I saw this on myspace, and I'll have to say it again...this is so beautiful! The colouring is so smooth and pretty, and I'm happy you chose warm colours for the background. Great concept as well, you demonstrate it really effectively. ^^

And whoa! U drew sum treeeez!!! AN u drew sum rokkks!!! XDDD And they really look good!

Your anatomy is definately improving as well, especially with the shape of the arms and legs. Looks very accurate to me. :]

Seriously, this has to be one of your best pieces. I'm faving for sure! <3
