Description So... I tried to do some kind of tutorial or some kind of tips and techniques thingy on the purposes of different kinds of sketchbooks (that i at least have) and ways to make the pages inside of them more interesting;; LOL.... some people on tumblr asked if i could do a tutorial on something, but i kind of want to wait until my art is better so that i can actually do an actual drawing or coloring tutorial.. but for now i feel more safe with mini tips and tricks LOL.

A lot of these pictures were taken from my sketchbook that will accompany my portfolio that will be sent to calarts, scad, and sva,: mewdoubled.tumblr.com/post/547…

if you have any tips/advice you would like to give back to me i will be very grateful 8'D

Honestly, I've gotten a "professional" sketchbook that sucked so bad, I starts to write it in. Seriously. I would barely touch a line in graphite, it would smudge half the paper (I'm only being a little dramatic). I've gotten some "less professional one" (second column) as gifts, and they worked the best.

Just because you spend more on something doesn't mean it's necessarily better.

I mean, like I said this is just my personal way of doing my own things, I'm just giving ideas for anyone who doesn't know where to start, but what works best for you works best for you.

well, lets see, I really don't care about where an how I put my drawings, just as long I can find 'em. anyone who talks shit about em, I flip the bird. I get really lazy at coloring and don't really care unless im interested (or bored out of my fucking mind). so, since I don't really care I guessΒ  am do whtever the fuck you want....YES!

Some really helpful tips here. I find the whole decorating your page or filling negative space helpful. Your examples you shown are superb. I will work harder presenting my work, even if it's as lame as a stick man.

wow this is actually really informational! Thanks a ton for taking the time to do this. How would you organize a portfolio for something like an art college? Just maybe show them your legit sketch book? Do you have any idea about colleges? I'm a junior this year and My consulors aren't much help in this area.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

mewDoubled In reply to RainyStars0051 [2013-09-01 02:59:38 +0000 UTC]

For organizing things in a sketchbook, just show that you're well rounded and can draw pretty much anything but in a way it still resembles who you are. I would like to go to Calarts, Scad, or Sva and I know calarts for sure needs a sketchbook. However, a sketchbook is just a portion of your actual portfolio

Wow, that's really interesting. There's a lot of things I didn't realize people do on here... Even in the expensive sketchbooks, I kind of just do what I want. Then again, I'm not really a character design student or anything. xD Anyway, I might try some of these techniques sometimes in a more expensive book. Thanks!
