So... I tried to do some kind of tutorial or some kind of tips and techniques thingy on the purposes of different kinds of sketchbooks (that i at least have) and ways to make the pages inside of them more interesting;; LOL.... some people on tumblr asked if i could do a tutorial on something, but i kind of want to wait until my art is better so that i can actually do an actual drawing or coloring tutorial.. but for now i feel more safe with mini tips and tricks LOL.A lot of these pictures were taken from my sketchbook that will accompany my portfolio that will be sent to calarts, scad, and sva,: mewdoubled.tumblr.com/post/547β¦

my type is what ever... I usually draw with pencil, and scan it for editable in computer. And I erase the sketch and use it again

i tend to skip a page for each drawing i did to avoid smudge on other side of page..i wonder how i can avoid such habit on legit shit sketchbook coz yeah it damn pricey

omg i would use one of those composition notebooks to draw in while at school and when i would rip out a page i would be like ;intensely tries to rip out a page without actually ripping the page in half- ;Successfully does it- the paper is crumbly. me; oh well.

for calarts, or the california institute of the arts, they require one for character animation to go along with your portfolio. some other schools may ask for one as well.. or some sort of sketch diary xD

That is really cool. I'm actually really liking the idea of having three sketchbooks like this because I have a strange love towards organization and the number three As it stands now, I pretty much already have the fun one and the do-whatever-the-fuck-you-want one, but a professional one is just mind blowing to me!

Errrrr, I probably sound like a noob buuut, what are the "more expensive then my house" brand of sketchbooks called? Because I have seen sketch book like that style you drew but they weren't expensive, so I am guessing their is a specific brand that has paper in it that has "made from the trees of heaven" quality to it.

umm the ones i use are from canson, they're obviously not more expensive than your house -- butttt i think i bought a portfolio-like one from michael's and it was 20-25 US dollars and that's twice the price of one you could get from artist's loft. The paper quality is pretty good actually, but if you tend to draw a LOT and if you're not planning on submitting it to a college or something, just get one from artist's loft because they're just as good xD

Oh thank you so much~! I wasn't sure if they made some kind of REALLY high quality sketchbook that I was unaware of, yeah I use alot of canson paper from watercolor to regular, thare are just nice! But yes, I really need to invest the time and money in getting a new sketchbook to be more serious about, but the current one I have is rather 'silly'.

I tend to abuse my art book Being a teen I never took it into consideration I draw huge pictures and end up with no space never just stuff like this.Sense I am getting a new notebook I guess i can take this into consideration now .I've kept all my books sense 2010 so this would be cool to do .

Nice! I like your tips very much! I keep a sketch book, (is more like a notebook of blank sheets) and I try to do a drawing everyday, most time I doodle and add notes...

This is perfect and amazing asdfghjk my sketchbooks are always a mix of the Fun and do whatever the fuck you want and even though I buy the legit shit books since I'm in college now, I still rip out pages and make it look like the do whatever the fuck one ahahaha I'll try to use your advice here! I will make my sketchbook pretty like yours XD
