Description I'm not a fan of inverts really, but I'm glad I took the time to get a picture and read up on this guy, because, while herping today, I ended up taking a sting on my right finger.

There was some intense pain for the first ten minutes or so, then mild pain, tingling, and numbness for the past two hours, plus a little bit of flush feeling. I'm feeling just about fine, now, except for a little bit of tingling and swelling still present at the site of the sting.

Compared to the amount of snakes we found today, though, totally worth it. haha

Good! I've never been stung or bitten by snakes and scorpions.. infact I don't ever see any snakes where I live ! If I do it'd just be Garter Snakes I'm sure XD.

I've been bit by literally hundreds of snakes. Nothing harmfully venomous, but I've had a few envenomations from a couple rearfanged mildly venomous colubrids.

Is this from the Tityus genus?

Centruroides vittatus. I had to look it up, because I really have never bothered with inverts much, but it's the only native scorpion in Arkansas.

Ok, thanks alot. I'm not very good with inverts either, but it just looked like Tityus stigmurus alot

Interesting. I just looked up T. stigmurus and they seem very similar, including looks. The main difference it seems is range. The Tityus genus is found throughout southern Central America, South America, and the Caribbean, while the Centruroides genus is found from southern North America south to northern South America. They're both in the Buthidae family though. (Thick tailed scorpions).

Well, I guess this explains why they are so similar in appearence. Great capture.
