Thanks for your comment! I try to make appendages on my alien creatures depart from the familiar structures of Earth-life as much as possible. The photosynthetic surface they live on spreads like a blanket and has a texture somewhere between a pumpkin skin and elephant skin. Quite breakable, but it repairs quickly in sheet-like layers.

Man, something about the petal-legs appeals to me on many levels. So clearly-rendered, as with all of your work! What's the surface they're on?

This is such a great picture! You don't see too many alien pictures like this. Great textures and fantastic designs!

Thank you! My original design for the crawlers looked too much like Mandarin orange slices, so I changed it.

They remind me of mites crawling on some kind of larger creature's skin. Is this a microscopic image? What exactly is the nature of the surface the crawlers are climbing on?

Actually the "skin" surface is a sprawling photosynthetic organism that spreads like a layer over the ground. In places, it can grow to be quite tall. The "mites" are about the size of pigeons. As for the tube feet and other common features, I haven't yet come up with a taxonomic history yet, but on this planet, such appendages confer a greater fitness rate than earth-like jointed limbs. Thanks for your interest!

Do you use any references for these drawings? They are very life-like.

Actually I don't have any real references. I have carefully observed animals my whole life, and the creature designs and drawing seem to just flow from that.

Well, your drawings are excellent, and the designs have a real "alive" texture to them.
My own alien biota also inhabit a low-gravity, dense atmosphere world, and some even have tube-like feet. I wish that I could present them as realistically as yours though.
Looking forward to more from you.

Thank you so much for the compliments, although I still wish my art was up to the level I keep striving for. I'd like to see your creatures and environments- so keep drawing! And don't worry about how good you think they are at first- if you have the interest and passion, your art will take its own original form after enough practice.

Thanks for the watch and for the encouragement. It means a lot coming from an artist as excellent as yourself.
