Description
Hey, all. Recently I discovered the tutorials of Walt Stanchfield. He taught Disney drawing classes and I became *super-excited* as I read them. He REALLY knows what he's talking about!! So, on my quest to continually improve as an artist, I'm going to be working through these classes, one a week. ^_^The first one deals with gesture drawing - "Abstracting the Essence" as he called it. Very interesting stuff. People look past gestures because they aren't impressive or super-detailed, but they are vitally important to producing a good drawing. The drawing is built on the gesture, so the detailing and shading (the parts most people notice) won't help the drawing that much since the *initial conception* of the drawing was flawed. The better a gesture is, the better the final drawing will become.
These sketches are just a few of the pics I did. These came out alright. Most were unreadable, which is why I'm working on this to make it better! Haha!
You can see the reference pics I used here --> [link]
EDIT: The PDFs are no longer available for download.

Aww, what was the name of the pdf... It was like a book, with a ame, or just some various "random" tutorials in a pdf?

'Drawn to Life' was the name of it. I don't think they're available online anymore because the work was compiled into a book (which I bought and is awesome). But yeah, that's the name.

Wow, very nicely done. I'll have to log onto DA with my desktop some other time to get the PDF's, because they don't like to work on my laptop for some reason D:
