No, actually it's supposed to balance perfectly with the feather of Ma'at, demonstrating that you were neither too light or heavy of heart in life.
If you fail your heart gets immediately tossed to the goddess Ammit (or Ammut?)...anyway, she's a beast with a croc's head, a lions body, a hippo's hind quarters and a taste for human cardiac muscle.

Wikipedia was a huge help. And of course there was a ton of info I couldn't use. It's all so complicated with the Egyptians. Melding the religions of the upper and lowers Niles when the time came produced some interesting narratives....
