Imagine you say? This is what I feel happened:
Discord and Pinkie fell in love, and in time he did something unintentional and it wounded her deeply. In seeing this, and feeling this sudden, staggering pain in his heart he fled, not knowing how to explain or apologize for hurting her. Pinkie, after a short moment, realizes how much pain he himself was in, races off to find him crying like she'd never seen anyone cry before. From there, we see that their love is strong enough to forgive with understanding and purity.
