Description    Located in the uncharted heart of Brazil, hidden within the Amazon rainforest, the Lost World plateau has an area of nearly 30,000 square miles, almost as big as Ireland. It is totally surrounded by high peeks and mountains, nearly impossible for man or most animals to pass over. The only way int the interior pf the plateau is a long cave network from the bottom that leads to the other side.  In-case you can't read the key, the lightly shaded areas are upland, mountainous forest, the dark shaded area is lowland forest and jungle, the speckled area is swamp and marsh, and the unshaded area is open plain.(Pretty sure you can tell what the lakes, rivers, and mountains are!) The largest lake is lake Gladys, named during the 1911 expedition after a members fiancee.  Several small Native American villages of the Accala people are situated Northeast of the lake. This lake, along with several other lakes and ponds, stretch into rivers that ultimately merge into the River of Time, which starts in the Northern Marsh and ends in the Southern Marsh. Another lake just to the West of Lake Gladys is Lake Dactyl, which, along with the Dactyl Cliffs which overlook the lake, are named for being the primary feeding and nesting areas for several large species of pterosaurs. Many species of large dinosaurs nest in the great Southwestern plain, just across the River of Time from the Dactyl land. Situated in the upland forests of the Eastern foothills is a large community of caves and rock outcroppings. This are is yet to be explored fully but near the area have been sitings of stones, chipped, smashed and otherwise manipulated, as well as smoke, though this area is far from the Indian settlements.

Now I'm curious, does Lake Gladys have the giant amphibian creature briefly mentioned in the novel?
