Description PROJECT DESIGNER CYCLE 3
[Design Topic 11 ] Here Comes the...Wedding Team?

MODEL STATS
Name: Tatiana
Hair Color: Black
Ethnicity: Carribean

TEAM MEMBERS
*Erik-flamboyant broadway type clothing
*Sam-Wal-Mart type clothing

*White chiffon veil attached to gold bracelets, decorated with a gold and ruby brooch
*White satin gown with red and gold designs
*Curtain red satin boots with gold designs
*Curtain red satin hair ornaments

Personal Notes:
*What a difficult team. Erik had some anger issues and a rather unsettling habit of wearing a white half mask, along with the tendency to dramatically swish a black satin cape around, muttering something about Raoul and Christine in French. Thought perhaps they were rival designers. Sam, on the other hand, kept peering anxiously over my shoulder at the receipts, and protested loudly over earlier drafts of dresses that were rather impractical and overly elaborate (no thanks to dear Erik). He even suggested outsourcing the designing itself, at which point I put my foot (comfortably clad with a nice pair of flip flops, by the way) firmly down.
*The topic was to create a design for the year 3020, and the first thing I thought of was futuristic sci-fi movies. Sadly, I could count the number of such movies I've watched using three fingers alone: Matrix 1, Matrix 2, and Star Wars 2. The memorable parts of all three were the costumes. I decided that it would be best to blend the two, as Erik kept insisting we go for a Star Wars sense of fashion, while Sam loudly advocated fleeing towards the simplicity and practicality of the Matrix wardrobe. Of course I needed to have my say, too.
*The end is a blend of the theatrical (the flowing veil, gold designs, and sexily slim red boots) with the practical (the simplistically shaped gown and a fuss-free hairstyle), with inspirations drawn from various cultures, including the Arabic (the veil), the Ancient Egyptian (the design on and the shape of the gown), the European (white gown) and the Han Chinese (the bridal red).
*The sun, being a yellow star, would start to get hotter during its midlife stage (a stellar case of the typical midlife crisis, haha). The Earth would therefore get REALLY hot, as each rising degree would have tremendous effects on the environment. I therefore predict more deserts and dryer air in the future. Which would result in people fleeing underground, underwater, or learning to cope with desert conditions; however, that is not particularly relevant to this design, as the sun is still rather young and will not go into its midlife stage until about a million years. I see the 3020 Earth as being pretty much the same in terms of weather, except maybe a bit hotter.
*People's lives would be full of machinery, though. Surrounded by robots, metal, lights and tv's that blend into ceilings and walls, simple yet cold, harsh lines. People would then turn to the comforts of ethnic and religious comforts and the soothing image and feel of flowing cloth. I think, though, that clothes in the future would have a more practical quality to them. I guess this is where The Matrix comes in, haha.
*A movie star would of course need to show some skin while being classy and glamorous. We're talking A-list here, people.
*There would still be a love-hate relationship with the sun. The design on the dress and on the brooch is actually inspired by the sun.
*Sadly (or maybe happily?), I'd never been to a Wal-Mart's before in my life. In fact, there isn't one where I live. Thank goodness for the internet. I have, however, been to a K-marts. And I love Target! Hurrah!

Thank you to my lovely friends who gave me very helpful comments and suggestions along the designing process.

I love how you design hair. So jealous. XD;

I like her pose and the expression on her face. :]

I like how light and delicate the bracelets are...not all chunky and one big, fat band (as my rather poor imagination would have come up with XD; ).

You already know how much I like this. :3

I do, but thank you for commenting here anyway :]
I actually designed the bracelets to be chunky, but thought better of it, haha.
Thanks ^_^

This was a good appraoch to the design at hand. It's very clean and sleek.
I think you leaned toward "Sam's" design more...it's very simple in comparison to your previous designs. I see it's pretty but the 'Hollywood glam' missing in this. It is a great simple dress though.
I think the hair is great and it would have been cool to see more exciting things going on like the torso detail.

Thanks. I think I've always been afraid of going overboard, which I guess is neither good or bad.
But thank you for your comment ^_^.

Wow, amazing work.

For some reason I could see something like this in a star wars movie...
