Whew! It's been...over 2 years since my last upload. It doesn't seem that long, though.

But the artsy bug bit, and now I'm finally working on a new project. And it's taking much longer than I remember. In fact, it took me awhile to get back into the drawing/coloring groove.

One of my favorite authors (besides, of course, my all time favorite, the great Jane Austen) is Vivian Vande Velde. I read a lot of her books back in my teen years, and since she's also a favorite of my sister (who is still in her teens -a moody, melodramatic, and altogether difficult time), I've recently re-read some of her books. I love the humor in the books. What can I say? If I want to get depressed, I'll just turn on the news. I hate sad endings.

That previous paragraph was not completely random. Re-reading her books is what spawned this whole art project thing. From left to right, the 3 characters are my interpretations of 3 heroines (sort of) from her books: (1) Alys, (2) Elswyth, and (3) Kerry. As readers of her books can tell, I favor the lighter books. "Lighter" in terms of mood. Did I mention I hate depressing stories? After all, the pursuit of happiness is one of our unalienable rights -and besides, who wants to make an effort in the pursuit of unhappiness? I guess this is why I don't like angsty teenagers. I mean, look at Harry Potter in the 5th book -what a drag to read through his emo spewings. If I were Hermione, I'd have pulled a Lucy van Pelt and slugged him, that's what.

This comment is turning out to be a lot longer than I expected. I just can't shut up, can I? Speaking of longer than expected, I can already tell that this project is going to span several days, since I'll probably slack off. In fact, this project is actually my way of procrastinating, when I have other stuff to do...
