Description
So I did this a while back, but as usual, couldn’t be bothered or kept forgetting to put it on here! This is my AU thing of what happened to the Logging Locos and Misty Island. It’s mainly taken the influence of the RWS with heavily trying to add realism as much as I could. So here’s the Headcanon:
In 1876, the little island of Fochan Ellon (Sudric for Misty Island) was brought by a company who was interested in chopping wood down and transporting it for goods, since the wood was known to be very strong on that island. They started out with chopping trees down and creating huts to live in. By 1880, they had started to make good money, so good in fact the company decided to build their own Railway which connect to the Island of Sodor where wood would be transported to the ships at Brendam. So tracks were laid, rolling stock brought and three engines were built. Two tank engines and one tender engine. The railway was called the Fochan Ellon Railway, even though it wasn’t officially called that by the company.
A long, wooden bridge would be built to allow the engines to cross to each island and take to Brendam Docks where it also met up with the W&SR. However, whilst business was booming for the company, they forgot one detail. Trees need to grow and they cutting down too quickly and not allowing new trees to grow either with only planting one after a 100 more were cut down.
By 1889, the company was realising what it had done, but only too late. Fully grown trees were becoming rarer to cut down and the planted ones weren’t fully grown yet. The company, desperate to stay afoot, tried opening a mine, but failed due to the lack of rock and the ground being too unstable to work in.
By 1892, all trees were finally gone. No more were standing, not even the young ones which were cut down too due to desperation. The company instantly feel to its knees and a week later was forced to close. Workmen went away to find work and everything was left to rot where it stood.
No one knows what happened to the engines that worked there. Not even today people know what the tender engine even looked like with no pictures of it. The picture seen here is the only one of the two tank engines.
The island was left untouched for many decades, with the bridge reportedly collapsing due to erosion in 1901. In 1952 however, the island was given to the Sodor National Trust who decided to make it in a nature reserve with most of the trees fully grown back and now looking more like it’s old self again. No one is allowed to go there and is off limits. Not even the highest of authorities are permitted unless of the most important circumstances.
It is an island dwelled in mystery and wonder. But most old locals would also call it a place of dread….

So that’s it really! Any questions I will try my best to answer them! Hope you like it!
