Here's a tutorial to go along with my icon base~ (Base found here: [link] )I'm...not really used to making tutorials...so I hope it's useful. ._."
I realize I rambled a bit here and there, but I made it with the imaginary people who had no clue where to start in mind~
Anyway this ends my days of making icons with this base. TTwTT Please...carry on my legacy.
On a side note, the guy I made the icon of is Adam Mada. I made a bet with ~Alva958 on who the last person to get picked for the Ace Attorney icon family would be a long time ago and said it'd be Adam Mada 'cause I didn't even know he existed 'till SS pointed him out to me. -u-
So since I'm done making icons, I figured I ought to go ahead and resign from the competition. -cry- This doesn't mean you win yet Steel Samurai.
I'm actually surprised I made enough icons to cover the left side of the tutorial.
And a little sad there wasn't enough room to fit the last few characters.

Err, well I used it up until I got Photoshop sort of recently...........*meep*
But I really enjoyed it while I had it~ And I'll continue to recommend it to those ready to start digital art! *Forever a Paint.net fan!*

It's great!~ But there's also a lot to it...I'd say it's not worth the money if you're not willing to take the time to learn how everything works. (And some stuff does get complicated. .A.)
The biggest reason I got it was because it coincides with my education.

Yeah a tablet can really help a lot on the sketching part... :c
But the good news is, the icons are so small this isn't too much of a problem. c: Just try to sketch in nice small strokes and then the line tool can clean it up for you.
Now this isn't really helpful for the icon per se...but if you want to practice these techniques on a bigger picture, you can draw the sketch traditionally then scan/take a photo of your picture and draw over it digitally. c:
I used to do that for some of my first digital pictures before I got my tablet. x3
If you do that, just remember to resize the scanned image to something more manageable before you start to work on it. .o.

I sort of tried doing that but when I draw things, I do a lot of shading and it's hard to draw straight lines and do shading with mouse or perhaps I am too noob to know how to >_>;;

I agree it's hard to do anything with the mouse. :c
That's why I'd just rely on a line/curve tool if I was drawing seriously, or I'd just draw very simple pictures. xD
