SEE THE FINISHED PRODUCT: [link]Info: After giving this a LOT of thought, I have at last resolved to upload these rough sketches into my scraps section. From here on each entry in the Planet Gaia series will be accompanied by the rough sketches which led up to the final result. Some of these will even contain concept artwork from years before. To start off here’s the initial head study designs for Slim the Weasel. This sketch also includes the leader of the Toon Patrol from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Nack the Weasel from the Sonic the Hedgehog series and even a real weasel. All three of these designs inspired me and coalesced into one character: Slim!
Medium: HB pencil on computer paper
Date of creation: Head study: summer 2008, Old design: Unknown, Final update: 10/26/08
Trivia: The older design for the weasel wasn’t really based on anything. As a matter of fact it doesn’t even look like a weasel… what is that thing? It’s SUPPOSED to be a weasel but it looks like some sort of twisted Chihuahua-weasel-chinchilla hybrid. I do sort of like the old design, so I won’t tear myself up over it. I’ll just smile and laugh.
In “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” the Toon Patrol is a group of mobish cartoon Weasels in the employ of the sinister Judge Doom. Doom has appointed the five shifty characters as intimidating law enforcement officers, a kind of “cartoon Gestapo.”
Nack the Weasel is also known as Fang the Sniper. He appeared as both an antagonist in “Sonic Triple Trouble” for the Game Gear and as a playable character in the “Sonic the Fighters” arcade game.
