This brings Lovecraft's Old Ones from "At the Mountains of Madness" very much to mind.Β We never did get to see many images of these guys in their aquatic-dwelling phase.Β

I've never read that, but I think Guillermo del Toro was supposed to direct the film version.. but ended up doing Pacific Rim.
