Description
An older concept but I still liked its simplicity. A kind of robo-organic dragon. I tried to go as original as possible with it being a tripod, wings made from energy, glowing eyes and an armor plated body and helmet. I'd imagine them like cat to large dog sized creatures buzzing around quick and chaotically like dragonflies perhaps attacking spaceships and such.Related content

Thanks, glad you like so many things about the conceptual idea of this being a dragon. I had once started a thread on a forum for people to design "new takes and original ideas" on dragons. We see too many old school, long neck, horns, webbed ears, winged, tail, scaled, fire breathing creatures when people suggest the notion of a dragon. If you know of Tony Diterlizzi's work, he had designed a number of dragons for an AD&D manual once that were quite unique. A lot of them had elemental qualities to their bodies that made them stand out and made me remember them even 10 years from the first time I saw them.

I don't know if he's on DA, he's not much of a "forum go'er" but he does have a myspace and facebook page. He's a pretty big pro in my book. He's a successful freelance artist, writer and illustrator of children's books. He's the visual mind behind "Spiderwick" in collaboration with Holly Black if you've seen the movie. He's a genuinely nice guy and has some very inspiration work. I kind of dedicate my "fantasy art" drive to his works even though I was drawing creatures before I came across his art. He just kind of gave me that inspiration and edge I needed to understand what was possible.

Yea, I just wanted to get away from the typical dragon as much as possible so eliminating any kind of tail helped to do that. Though I agree, a tail/weapon would be nice.
