-Bio: Dennis is a diesel shunter the Fat Controller trialed back in 2004 to help out in the yards, but the only problem however, Dennis hates working. The reason being Dennis is a very lazy and selfish engine that believes that he could do whatever he wants, whenever he wanted, as all the diesel wanted to do was spend every day resting in a shed and dozing like a sod, and cares for nobody's needs but his own. Because of his lazy and stubborn demeanor, he displays without a doubt a number of very negative personality traits, as he is very arrogant, inconsiderate, rude, dishonest, and very bad-mannered. He is so lazy and selfish that he would often lie to the other engines, and make them do his work for him, which in return causes so much trouble, yet Dennis doesn't care at all about the consequences of his lies, as he only just wants to doze and no more, and would even threaten and blackmail others if he can’t get his way. In fact, his laziness is even worse than Daisy’s, as the railcar would even begin to realize how much of a negative impact her own selfishness has caused after Dennis threatened to blackmail her. Though thankfully, Dennis finally got his comeuppance after going on a runaway when trying to bank a train of ballast with Daisy, and crashed into the sea at Knapford Harbor. The Fat Controller saw to it how much of an awful engine he was, and had the lazy diesel scrapped and converted into an ice parlor at Barrow as punishment for his horrible behavior and refusal to do work. Now all Dennis can do is sulk miserably, but is made to keep his mouth shut by the stationmaster should he ever whine, and he would never cause trouble for his own selfish needs again.
-Artist's Commentary: Hi guys! I know it's been a while since you seen my portraits again, I know, and I miss doing them to. But here's a character you honestly wouldn't expect me to make, and another Miller one-off, and easily one of the most unlikable Thomas characters in the franchise...Dennis the Lazy Diesel. Oh dear god, I can't even begin to tell you how much I hate this pathetic and spoiled brat, and thank god he was only just a one-off, because all there character does is laze about and do nothing, and if he can't get his way, he'll whine like a 3-year old child and even lie to get other engines to do his work, and feel no remorse, or at least that's what we think, but they never kept him around except for merchandise, they never developed him, which makes it even worse. Initially I didn't want to add in this low-life, or any Thomas character that was poorly written, but the only reason I do is because at least if he was in the RWS or the Classic Series, he would probably serve as one of those devious visiting diesels that only appeared once after they got sent away for causing trouble for being lazy, arrogant, rude, selfish, etc. you get the idea. Basically, he would be in the same league as like D261, D199, Old-Stuck Up, again, you get the idea.
In fact, the other reason to add him as this particular story I got planned for him in my upcoming 2nd season will be an adaptation of my best friend CrovanWorks' story, the Lazy Diesel, which is a very good story, and I highly recommend checking it out, because he does great with the concept of Dennis that I mentioned above. Especially since he serves as a foil to Daisy the Diesel Railcar, who is more likable than Dennis, as even though Daisy can be lazy and spoiled, she is remorseful, caring, and very down-to-earth, and when push comes to show, she's very sweet when needed, and always does her be to make up for her mistakes, and apologize to those she had wronged. Dennis, like I said, he's just a lazy, spoiled brat, and a complete lowlife that has a 3-year old trapped in a diesel locomotive's body. Now while I admit, there are much worse Thomas characters than Dennis, you can easily bet if I did a Top 10 Unlikable Thomas Characters list, this scum bag would easily be on it.
In fact, since I reference Seinfeld a lot, Now to make things clear while I'm not that big a fan on Seinfeld, really because I hate how the characters are selfish, rude and apathetic jerks that take no responsibility for their actions. I know it's a joke, but I watch shows with character development, kindness, and more importantly...humanity, and balance. I only watch it occasionally for laughs, as Jerry Seinfeld is one of my few comedic influences, and he can be write funny, its just Seinfeld isn't a show I would watch all the time. The reason I bring it up, is that Dennis is like the character of George Costanza on the Thomas the Tank Engine, played by Jason Alexander, who was known for being a selfish, arrogant, rude, inconsiderate, apathetic, whiny, actually, he's basically every negative personality trait in the dictionary, because he did a lot of horrible things and showed no remorse...until the finale when he and the other main characters got arrested for their horrid and unethical behavior. So I imagine Dennis would be like George where all he did was laze about and lie for the sake of his selfish needs and wants, and not take any responsibility or learn anything, like the Seinfeld characters.
So that's basically it, and for those wondering, "wait Mike, you made Norman before, aren't you gonna add him," and the truth was that back then I was, but then axed him out, as...let's be honest guys, there is nothing to Norman at all, except he's another pointless merchandise character. What's there to add about him, he's just so pointless and useless as character, that there's no need to add him one bit. And the same goes for Sidney for that same reason! And even though Dennis sucks as a character, at least adding him in is interesting, as he might only appear in one story. For now at least, I just don't know what else to do with this brat, but I got CrovanWorks to thank for that, thanks man!
