-Artist’s Commentary: Hi guys! I decided to change things up a little, as here we have another CGI character from a pretty bad Thomas special that got a lot of fans, myself included to stop watching any new Thomas content since its release, and its Merlin from Journey Beyond Sodor. Now just to let you all know, and its no secret I'm sure, Journey Beyond Sodor sucks ass! I mean seriously, that movie is just freaking terrible in every regard, but the question is, why do so many Thomas fans hate this movie? Is it Mattel's so obvious greedy marketing stunts, the fact that its too light-hearted and kid-friendly, the potty humor, the fact its a musical, the fact the characters can move their bodies like stupid Chuggington, the missed opportunities, the poor characterizations, like overusing Thomas and making him a selfish, whiny little brat who always gets his way, the mean-spiritedness in some parts, lackluster villains. Well the obvious answer, its all of the above, as since 2017-2018, I've had it with CGI Thomas, and with what Mattel's doing with the franchise for their own selfish reasons, that I just stopped, as if I went on to say how JBS, and everything after that was so god awful, and how everything classic Thomas was always great, and far superior, we'd be here until next week.

But what I will talk about is what made me decide to add Merlin in Engines Together, well, we all know Mattel is a bunch of greedy, mass-marketing, and inconsiderate assholes that only care for creating a bunch of underdeveloped and unnecessary characters just to make toys, and the other characters in JBS were not great at all; Lexi was annoying because not only am I against adding more international engines, but the fact she keeps switching her voice, I'm like, "just shut up and pick one", Theo I feel offended by, because of how lots of fans pointed out he acts like he has autism, which makes me feel, was Mattel doing this to knock at the autistic fanbase of the franchise? Like that I cringe at, because for one, I am autistic, a high-functioning one, and this is just so offensive for me to see, especially since Thomas the Tank Engine is the mascot for autism Awareness, so yeah, Mattel, you guys suck! Frankie I really don't like, as she's a whiny, bossy and mean-spirited bitch who only wants things her way, and kinda comes off as like the Elaine Benes of the Thomas franchise, oh who am I kidding, I wouldn't even dream of saying this is Thomas the Tank Engine at all, and it doesn't deserve too be, especially because whatever Mattel does has Wilbert Awdry hurling like a tornado in his grave. While Hurricane was at least decent, and I had nothing against him, and his design and personality were great, I don't think I'd really have a place for him. But Merlin, I was wondering if I could, but then decided, at least he has a decent personality, and a really cool design, especially since he's the second character after BoCo to actually have his class mentioned, an N15 King Arthur, and his performance by Hugh Bonneville was actually quite charming. And I agree with the fans in that, at least he is one of the best parts of that other horrible musical train-wreck, and yeah I'm talking to you Great Race, screw both those movies to hell. The only problem I have with Merlin, is I really don't like how he's a delusional idiot like Samson & Phillip, two characters I really hate so much, a good way to describe them, its like Buzz Lightyear from the 1st Toy Story, if he didn't find out he was a toy. While Marion also had that problem, and she got on my nerves to, I can't bring myself to hate her at all, as at least she is decent, but not one of my favorite characters. But in my series, Merlin will be more wise and intelligent, and actually is aware that he can't, but can use his abilities to his advantages, and still has that level of charisma and self-confidence. I don't know what I fully plan to do with Merlin, and what he could do, hence why I placed his affiliations and bio as TBA, until I could think of something, but he'll be introduced later on in my series, like near the finale, even though I still gotta get writing. I hope you like this at least.
