Description
In an act of defiance and arrogance, the Prophet Truth activated the Ark, secretly hidden on a remote African plateau. The Ark's signal pulsed through space, recalling all the remaining Halo rings to the spot of their original construction...Earth. The Master Chief, who survived the siege of Earth, is both horrified and bewildered that Truth would activate the Ark. How could someone so learned in Forerunner technology and mythology not know the true function of Halo? The Master Chief, separated from his AI companion Cortana, is left alone to stop Truth before he can carry out his plans...______________________________________
Woah, here it is. After probably 4 months of procrastination and a month of actual work, the damned piece is finally finished...
...and i hate it. I want nothing more than to spend another 4 months of work on it and make it look exactly the way i want, but I'm a bit too tired of looking at this thing to do that. Ive been in a bit of a slump as of late, and I think if I get this piece off my chest I can focus on new things. I know it looks cut off and cramped, but after a couple months of tinkering I STILL couldnt get the space part of the piece to look good...so i just cut it off. If it feels incomplete, its because its not really finished.
If anything looks wrong with it, its probably because this is my very first digital painting. After trying out a few speed paintings, I found out I loved to paint. I tried to draw a picture of Master Chief, and it turned out a bajillion times better than I could have expected. Then, i started working on this piece. Things went smoothly at first...but slowly I lost the time and inspiration to work on it any more.
Go ahead and tell me anything you think needs fixed, but I doubt I will change much. Sorry.
Anyways, time, energy, and inspiration permitting, there should be a couple more sequels.

I like the way you textured the armor... It looks really cool, great job!
I love the fact that the way you painted Master Chief is a mix between his Halo1 weapon handing, and his posture in the first Halo3 trailer...
The only thing that makes me feel weird is his legs.. It does not appear to be the right perspective angle as his real posture... But it isn't so much shocking...
A last idea: you could have paint the background like the Ark on earth, with a cliff, you know..
Anyway, thats awesome!

ha, I actually used the Halo 1 box art and Halo 3 trailer footage as reference material...good call!
The legs were done w/o reference...and I was still learning a lot, so thats why they look off.

The time's going by fast for me..I mean, ive been waiting for this game pretty much since I got tired of playing Halo:CE, and its weird to think that ill own it in the next few days.
Hopefully its not a disappointment.

only grouse i have about it is that it doesn't pick up directly where halo 2 left off (tt's in the comic instead)
so far rave reviews from famitsu, so i guess it can't be half bad.

I'm mostly looking forward to the campaign and finishing the story, but i think MP will kick ass up here at college. Gamespot and IGN gave it 9.5s, which is comforting. Still can't figure out why the first halo outscored it though?

They grade all over the map. They give Twilight Princess an 8.8 and WarioWare a 9.1.
I actually just beat the game last night..it was incredible. Make sure you stay after the credits, though.

Ya, for the most part. I'm trying to find a good outline of what happened and that explains all the intricacies of the storyline to see how well things connect (I'm not very good at that...haha), but it felt like a really solid end for the most part. There are a few things they didnt flesh out like I was hoping, but the ending is such that it makes you forget anything bad that happened.
Bungie is going to have a hard time topping this game..seriously, whats in store for them after this? Halo was such a success it basically defined the company. Whats next?

well, there's halo wars for one, but bungie's not developing that. there might be side series spin offs much like the half-life:episodes perhaps, but i kinda hope they'll do something groundbreaking. kind of have enough of shooters for now.
there's like already stuff like bioshock, crysis, halo 3, COD4 coming out.
lol i want more stuff like DMC4, MGS4 and Ninja Gaiden 2 if it's any good.

NO, but seriously that's effin' hot. MC is sexy, but I love the sky, especially the clouds. I like the lens flare effect you've applied to the Chief. I only have one niggle with it, and that is his left arm. It took me some time to actuallly find its shape. I know you said you won't go back to it, but I wish you did. You jusy have to find some inspiration from somewhere. Go play Halo CE and admire the beauty of copy/paste level design...maybe that's not such a good example >__>. If you ever do decide to go back to it, it would be awesome if you added some halo structures to the background. Still I absolutely love it, and I would fave it if I fucking knew how. Awesome job man.

its great, espescially for a first digital painting. my critiques would be that the ground behind the chief is needs to be tightned up a bit, and the cheif looks a bit chunky o.O

I think the problem with the piece is the weapon. Master Chief doesnt seemt o be holding it properly. See how the Soldier is holding the weapon in the Picture below.

I like everything; the mountains, the lightbeam and Master Cheif... but for some reason I don't like the overall look of it. You did an excellent job making it, there's no doubt about that, especially for your first (?).
Something just seems off... I can't put my finger on it. +fav nonetheless.
