What's chasing her is the witch of the house she's in. She was really sick and near death when chasing the girl. To find out why etc I could tell you unless you're getting into the game

Okay.
The witch of the house is Ellen. The blonde girl is Viola. When playing The Witch's House as Viola, you look for a way to get rid of the witch's roses so you can go home. You can find what you need to get out and just leave, or travel to the witch's room. Traveling to the witch's room reveals the true ending of the game.
Ellen and Viola were once friends. Ellen was always sick. At some point she made a deal with a demon that took the corpse of a cat to use as a physical form in attempt to be healed. Instead the cat gave Ellen a body switching spell. Ellen cut her own legs off and clawed out her eyes. Then pleaded with Viola to switch bodies. So they did. Ellen, now in Viola's body, gives her friend some medicine to burn her throat so she loses speach before leaving.
But Ellen learns that the way out is sealed and that she has to go inside to get what she needs to leave. Viola sees Ellen once you reach the witch's room and chases her down in attempt to get her to trade back. But instead you get a rather gruesome end where the witch acts as Viola and escapes, meeting her father on the road. Viola's father has a shotgun. So Ellen acts scared of Viola in the creepy state she's in at that point. Her father shoots her, thinking Viola is a monster and since she can't speak can't clarify the misunderstanding. So Ellen takes Viola's body and Viola ends up dead after being tricked by Ellen
