Description
a somewhat ridiculous land vehicle on mars...or some planet like it. i like to think of this fitting into a game idea i had called "mars land yachts" mars off-roading maybe...well started with a very basic sketchup model, could have been in max or maya..but i think sketchup helps you keep things simple and faster..then a-lot of free time photoshop work. most of that designing things, shapes, details. was a-lot of fun. wish i could say how long but since i was just stealing time to make it im not sure really.-mike

something I would definitely not want to argue with... reminds me of the old school sci-fi concept designs from the 60's and 70's smooth contoured design work... nice custom molding... the way sci-fi ought to be... actually now that I think about it... if the AT-AT had been so well designed they wouldn't have been so vulnerable to those cable cannons of the Rebel Snow Speeders... nice concept design Mike!

hi Q
i think i do relate formally to the cleaner designs of the 60s-70s. thats an interesting observation. when i think advanced i think more simple. its hard to balance that idea with the need for visual interest because it is art and not an actual thing. theres a balance somewhere in there. vis-a-vis the at-at i guess they came up with i a very visually and cinematically interesting way of the speeder and the at-at interacting on screen. if we really think about it, wouldnt the at-at's just keep on walking having a huge mechanical advantage in those legs being able to break a cable. but if they did it would not be that fun. now if the rebels built their base across a frozen ocean or lake they could just have heated up the ice beneath the at-at's and down they would have gone to a watery grave. its fun to think about things like that and play them out mentally. thanks for the comments Q

depends on the tensile strength of the cable.... and yeah I think melting the snow/ice beneath them would have been a much better alternative to getting pummeled by their cannon fire....

its not ridiculous at all.
Like the new FLNG ships, we build on sea... I imagine industrializing whole new planets needs a similar approach.
So like the FLNGs, that can go mobile, collect and refine oil + host a population of a small village, same all-in-one approach is most logical to get materials from other planets.
The design though is strange. This machine can only navigate smooth terrain.
But the overall artistic side is very good like u usually do : )

interesting idea. im not sure i agree that it can only nav smooth terrain, i think thats subjective, and thats totally ok with me. thanks for the comments

looking at the vehicles ...ummm... movement appendages... it appears as though the legs rotate on disc-like supports which would allow the vehicle to place each pod/foot separately on differing terrain... my guess on that any way...

Not just a land yacht, but also a must have for upscale Jawas.
This isn't your granddaddy's Sand Crawler.
Instant favorite.

It is pretty clear you had a lot of fun in this one looking at all the details, love the details and vehicle exiting the yacht The environment is also quite great like the hurricanes or tornadoes in the back!

i did but damn it took a while yeah something i noticed while working on it was when the environment got more crazy then the vehicle seemed to be having more of an adventure. the little vehicle idea came later on. im glad it came out well, i kind of just sketched it in at first not knowing what shape it would take. thanks btw...
