Lovely highlighting going on here. Working on something similar myself.  Did you use any specific brushes that I could download? would be great. Also did you use Photoshop?

this was done in zbrush and textured in zbrush using spotlight. thanks for the comments!

it is 3d. thats what can be done in z-brush. ill post the object that i made the tile from soon so you can see what i mean.

Damn! I'm impressed.. I have tried to make tiles myself in sketch up, but the suck.. Mind you I haven't attempted to make a proper 3d, render it in kerkythea and then import it as a texture. I just might give that a shot at some point.

that sounds like a great idea. i'd be very curious to see what you make. if you look at the game "hawken" you can see what just diffuse tiles can do when they have ambient occlusion. they also have a nice industrial look too.
