It's funny... it's the first time I've seen you reference ol' Dreddy Manic. I agree, I liked the rougher, punkier 80's art on Dredd (But I was also really turned on by Brian Bolland's liquid slick version).

It has been so long since I read 2000AD... the last thing I read was a hilarious series of crossovers - Dredd vs. Predator and Dredd vs Aliens (I'm not making this up). Although, my favourite was always when Dredd was fighting the commies... which was probably about the only full story arc I ever read - though I got a fair feel for Dredd by reading the compiled graphic novels in Waterstones when afforded the opportunity.

I used to buy 2000AD annuals as imports in my local comic book shop when I was a kid in the early 80s. What I loved about JD comics was not the action, but the humor. I would literally laugh out loud with the satire, puns and joke references.

Bang on the money Agent-- modern day 2000ad may look prettier than it's eighties counterpart but it just doesn't have the half the wit and clever satirising it used to.

So many of those writers and artists from 2000AD at that time later went on to work for Marvel, DC and Hollywood movies too. It was one of those "scenes" that happens every so often which produce tons of talent at once from a single place. Like the punks in 77.
