Description
I've created this in response to this rather lovely picture:[link]
In fact, if you're a Doctor Who fan of any standing you should check this guy's work out in general!
The Sixth Doctor might have been unlucky in the selection of television stories he received, but he was at least vindicated by Steve Parkhouse and John Ridgway's wonderful comics in the eighties. I would place the pen and ink adventures of the Sixth Doctor at number one in the best ever Doctor Who comics chart for their innovative and macabre storytelling, fantastic characters and all round great art.
And frankly, I just love to find excuses to draw beautiful women posing with Penguins!

Peter Davidson said it himself, "I think the only thing people saw in that scene was Perri's cleavage." about his regeneration scene. lol

Frobisher: so popular that he's almost canon through sheer wishful thinking by a critical mass of fandom. Actually, they do so much CGI on the show now that the BBC could easily include him if they wanted.
As for Colin Baker Doctor #6: I was watching Hugh Laurie in "House" last night and it hit me that House was what Doc 6 was probably supposed to be like. A gruff, arrogant, black-humored, sarcastic genius who, for totally the wrong reasons, saves peoples' lives. Somehow they didn't get it quite right in the 80s, but I don't blame Baker.
Watching Nicola Bryant is still great eye-candy, but her fake American accent is a bit whiny.

Nicola Bryant got the job, she said at a convention, because the producers actually thought she was American. It's kinda too bad, because her real, English voice is rather pretty.

She appears in the final episode of the excellent web fan series "Star Trek Continues" using her English accent and it's fine. They should have let her use it.

Being a rather new fan (and being an American :/) I finally got around to the comics of the sixth Doctor and I really enjoy them. Good stuff.

They're some of my favourite ever comics-- if you can track it down on ebay, the Marvel graphic novel 'Voyager' is well worth your pennies!

I always thought Peri looked a little like a certain lawyer we know named Jen, so the fact that you can draw her and I still recognize her first as Peri speaks volumes about how good a job you did. And I'm not familliar with the comics, so the penguin was not a tip-off.
Speaking of beautiful women and penguins, how familiar are you with Neon Genesis Evangelion?

Completely unfamiliar! What's a Neon Genesis Evangelion when it's at home?

Well, it's an anime, which is an area I've never really seen you mention having an interest in. actually many folks wha are anime fans have declared it the Absolute Best Anime Evaaar OMG though I've seen parts of it and am not sure I see the appeal.
But anyway, the reason I brought it up is one of the female characters--quite the hottie, as cartoon characters go--has a beer guzzling penguin living in her refrigerator...

Wow, I didn't know that Colin Baker got good stories in comics. Though I did hear probably his best story in the TV series was "The Two Doctors"...but then again it had Troughton so that can't screw it up. (any Doctor who faces Daleks, Cybermen and DAIMIAN [yeah, I know it was post-Doctor Who but he was in the first Omen movie] has to be cool)

You should check out the comics if you can. They've been collected in two black and white volumes, but it might be worth hanging around for IDW to release them as part of their 'Doctor Who classics' range. They've done some stunning work colourising the black and white art!

Ah, that brings back some nostalgia for me.
Nice drawing. Good to see some classic Doctor Who appreciation art.
my childhood memories, I found Colin Baker to be a decent Doctor, but after years of watching the 4th and 5th Doctor, going into the 6th seemed....awkward. Yeah, he got a raw deal with the behind-the-scenes stuff going on with the show.

Very nice, and I'm flattered that my work inspired you! I actually like your likeness of Frobisher better than mine.
What is it about hotties paired with talking birds that has so much appeal? Whatever it is, I'm convinced it has something to do with Howard the Duck's popularity...

Thanks! I think your version of Frobisher was cool though, it reminded me of Tony Millionaire's work.

Still have fond memories of number 6, Australia was just leaving Tom Baker era when I was old enough to care/be interested in Doctor Who, so was different.

You forget we are an English speaking part of the Commonwealth, for most of its life the bulk of the imported overseas programming the ABC has shown is British shows
Doctor Who was and is still reasonably popular, brings in good ratings and as influential to my childhood as much as yours I'd bet.

A lot of fans generally recognise Colin Baker as a great Doctor who got something of a raw deal with the show. I don't think there's any shame in liking him at all.
